Or try and create a Puppy Linux fighting game with these tutorials:

NOTE: This is the latest version available on Linux.
The resolution is very low - making the window very small,
but I've seen elsewhere that this can be adjusted (not sure how, yet)

There's a Linux port of MUGEN? Huh. I didn't know that. Was half-expecting this to be a post about how to get the Windows version working with Wine.
I'll have to go dig up all my Japanese MUGEN character links, now...

Yep, although it's not the latest version - WinMUGEN is much more updatedMakoto wrote:There's a Linux port of MUGEN? Huh... I'll have to go dig up all my Japanese MUGEN character links, now...
Although this PET file is the latest version available on Linux.

Is the Linux version parallel with the equivalent Windows version? I wouldn't know how significant the updates are, though.

The linux version is a LOT older than the Windows version, which has been kept alive by a comminuty of dedicated fans, who have hacked it up to include more hi-res graphics and stages..Makoto wrote:Is the Linux version parallel with the equivalent Windows version? Hmm... okay, it's not going to be completely compatible with all the stages and characters I might find, out there? Or maybe the Windows port just scales everything better, I don't know.
I know I see a new Windows version once in a while from Elecbyte - or at least I think I did, anyway.

...which means a lot of testing.
Nobody's willing to pick up development for the Linux port, I take it?

And no, onone is developing hte linux version anymore..
As I said earilier, I'll try and make an SFS addon with a few characters and stages..
Maybe we could make a Street Fighter sfs addons, a Mortal Kombat sfs and so on...
For now, we have this wrapper script from 01micko:
Code: Select all

#cd /usr/local/mugen

Nah - the point of MUGEN is to have them all mashed into one ridiculous mess of a fighter.
Still, I'd wonder why no one seems willing to work on or patch the Linux version as they are the Windows version.

at some point...
I've tested a number of characters, and found about 20 good quality characters that work.. Even the AI..kandkyo wrote:I already have this one, but I think this is the older version of mugen for linux, there's a problem in this version, the AI doesn't work for this version... some characters and stages are not compatible in this version.
But I do get crashes sometimes on the VS screen...
Is this related to the issue you are talking about?
And can you make a pet of your latest version?
If you can, please post the updated PET here!!
Mine is the latest i could find anywhere!

01micko has created a nice little wrapper script that can change the resolutions for you..
save 01mickos code as a scipt, put it in /usr/bin, then just type 'mugen -conf' in the terminal..
