Why does macpup look so dang good on my old crappy laptop and crappy video card? crazy. Makes it feel like a whole new laptop.

I know what you mean smellyman (great name btw), its as if Macpup is some sort of serum which brings dead laptops back to life, I was able to get it running on my Pentium 133mhz 80mb 4GB Toshiba made in 1998. It actually runns better than the win98 it had on it before. :P

not all that well but yeah, I had to turn off all forms of bling, and had to be patient. I think it was shipped with windows 95 now that I think of it.

" I had to turn off all forms of bling"

That kind of defeats the whole point of running macpup.

true, but I was curious to see if I could use it on my old laptop. Ive kept the thing all these years more as a novelty than anything. Im surprised it still works.

I have never posted anything to e17stuff. Mostly cause Agust has alot of the originals there that are mostly neutral distro wise . All of my stuff is for macpup and this place and our forum are the places that most macpup people will look for macpup stuff.

A new "stars" background. Yes it looks like Fedora 7 ( the first version of linux I used and I loved it )

background came from here:

Looks like I will need to put the themes/backgrounds work on hold for a few days. Rasterman released the newest snapshot of e17 today .49539 big jump from .063. :D We will see how it goes.....

OK I got it all compiled.Testing starts tomorrow.I haven't run e yet ,i have been fighting with Lua all day. Raster said he uses the one from the debain repos .So i deleted the version I got from the Lua web site and install the debian one and it worked. But I wont know if it is stable till tomorrow.I did run elementary and it is so cool now .I really need to learn how to use it.I could replace plogout with something cool.

I have been playing with the new build of e17 for a while now and I have some good news and some really bad news.

I have seen this a lot:

Image

If you use the e17 file manager and go more that 3 folders deep it
will crash ( I guess cause it opens a a new window for each level
down you go). :(

If you go through the application menus it will crash. :(

When you try to add stuff to the ibar by right clicking and selecting add app it will crash. If you go into the setting panel and select ibar applications it will crash all the way back to the CLI :( The only way to add stuff to the ibar is to put the .desktop files in
/root/.local and then edit the config file for the ibar in
.e/e/applications/bar . But using the stuff i put on the ibar, changing their icons or moving them around is fine .

I have it set up know to where I could use it for my personal system but until i can find out how to stabilize it I cant build a macpup out of it. So we may be stuck with .061 for a while longer, sorry . It's really frustrating cause this built has some really cool stuff !!!! And I want you to see it.....
