LightSpark

#1 Post by Tio_Iroh »

Hello,
it will be possible to crate the .pet for this new Flash Player alternative???

http://lightspark.sourceforge.net/

I'm using Puppy 4.3.1 on a K6-2 PC (500 MHz with 256 RAM) and it is NOT possible to wacth Youtube videos with Flash 9 or 10. It loads the video and you can ear the audio but the video gets blank or still.

I wonder if this new software would make possible to allow my old PC to access those flash based webpages.

Thanks.
:) Enjoying Puppy 4.3.1 smoothly on AMD K6-2 500MHz 256RAM.
 Booting any PC and Killing Windowz Viruses with XF Prot on Puppy 4.3.1 USB pendrive...

Just a naive suggestion. It works for my set up but I have no way of knowing if it will work for your more limited set up.

I have 3GB RAM and you 0.256 so maybe that is a problem but try this.

Look carefully at the progress of loading of the youtube movie clip.

There are one pale red thing and a more full red thing. The pale one goes before and will continue to progress if you hit pause.

When the pale one has reach the end and before the strong red one has reach the end hit pause.

Then go to.

Menu > Filesystem > Roxfiler annd then go to Root and Tmp and there you see a fresh Flashxxx something.

Rename it to the artist first name like this. Elvis-1.mp4 and move the file to your Home section.

Test if Gxine or MPlayer can play it there.

Works for me each time.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

@ Tio_Iroh

If you are using Google Chrome, there is an extension called Flash render Quality

Try changing it to a lower value

You might be able to watch it then
