Avidemux2 - Video Editing Application

#1 Post by Patriot »

Hmmm .....

I enjoyed working with avidemux2 on windows in the past and have just moved to the linux version. I wanted to know more about the enhancements and bugs in 2.5.1, so I've made a set of binaries. These are just a day old from the oven ...

Compiled and tested on Puppy 4.12 with everything except Arts, ESD, Jack and Pulse (I've no use for them) ..... If anyone wants 'em, grab a copy and have a bit of fun ...

1. Avidemux2 All-In-One
Description: Avidemux 2.5.x GTK+QT4 binaries and libraries, ready-to-run.
Library (binaries only) includes qt4, sdl-1.2.13 and the ones listed below.
Suitable for those who prefers a single click install.

a. Avidemux2 2.5.1 All-In-One pet (14MB)
[download]

b. Avidemux2 2.5.2 All-In-One pet (14MB)
[download]

c. Avidemux2 2.5.3 All-In-One pet (13MB)
[download]

(Note: Upon installing, the pet manager may throw out a seemingly
huge list of missing dependencies. Fear not, everything is there ...
Just restart JWM (or any menu update utility supported WM),
start Avidemux2 and enjoy ...)

2. Avidemux2 binaries only
Description: Avidemux 2.5.x full set of binaries. Suitable for
advanced users or those who prefers separate installs.

a. Avidemux2 2.5.1 binaries only pet (8.5MB)
[download]

b. Avidemux2 2.5.2 binaries only pet (8.7MB)
[download]

c. Avidemux2 2.5.3 binaries only pet (8.2MB)
[download]

3. aften-0.0.8 library pet (183KB)
[download]
Description:
a-fifty-two-encoder (aften) library. Suitable for advanced users.

4. faac-1.28 library pet (257KB)
[download]
Description:
Free Advanced Audio enCoder binaries/library. Suitable for advanced users.

5. faad2-2.7 library pet (608KB)
[download]
Description:
Free Advanced Audio Decoder binaries/library. Suitable for advanced users.

6. opencore-amr-0.1.1-svn library (638KB)
[download]
Description:
Opencore AMR NB/WB binaries/library. Suitable for advanced users.

7. x264-0.73.x-svn library pet (845KB)
[download]
Description:
x264 (AVC) Encoder binaries/library. Suitable for advanced users.

8. xvidcore-1.2.2 library pet (400KB)
[download]
Description:
Xvid (ASP) Encoder binaries/library. Suitable for advanced users.

9. SDL-1.2.13 library pet (2MB)
[download]
Description:
SDL 1.2.13 full binaries/library set. Suitable for advanced users/developers.

Final note:
Another once-in-a-blue-moon effort and may not be maintained unless I really borked something. Several test runs were made on fresh puppy 412/421/431 and they seems to run fine.

Screenshots clicky:

Option One

@enhu
Option #1 the "Avidemux2 All-In-One" will do the thinking for you (the choice of Noobs everywhere!). Then it's just a matter of a or b.

@Patriot
Well done! Initial results have it working with no probs on my Inspiron B130 4.3.1 Full.

Griffith to manage your personal Movies

#18 Post by Pelo »

People who work with video editing try Griffith to manage your personal Movies Collection Available From Package manager in Precise.
However, if you want to manage Movies downloaded from the web, Precise version has a bug, use last debian package( from XenialPUP or LXpup xenial

I use avidmux quite often.

One of these days I am going to figure out how to make external video filters so that I can do some things to videos that aren't covered in the quite large selection of functions. I will explain one in terms of gimp on a picture just so you know the sort of stuff I'm talking about.

load a picture into gimp.
Make a copy of the background layer (second copy of the same thing)
On the copy:
-- Use hue-saturation tool to set saturation to zero
-- blur with about a 100x100 px filter

Set the combine mode to "divide"
fiddle with brightness contrast
The image will now have a much narrower range of brightness and yet the details still have the same contrast. This makes it easier to see what is in the picture even though it does make the picture look a bit artificial. In some cases this is a good trade off.
