KDPUP = KDE 3.5.10 + dpup 484 beta 4 Subject description: tunapie |
|
Dejan:
I installed tunapie in your kdpup484, first I updated the repositories in puppy package manager (that took quite a while) the exited ppm and restarted it.It installed tunapie with all the dependencies, then I exited ppm.I tried to run tunapie but it wouldn't start so I installed the dpup-devx-484.sfs and it worked.
The default video player in tunapie is set to vlc and the video played but no sound so I changed the default video player to mplayer and it works perfect.
I'm attaching a screenshot.

KDPup logout |
|
KDPup is great - a fast KDE desktop and with the addition of OpenOffice it has everything I need.
To get the Kmenu/Logout to work I have created a directory called /root/.kde/shutdown and then coped the jwmshutdown script into that directory.
When you logout there is a short delay but the shutdown/reboot script will then execute.

Thanks Brad, that's good idea for shutdown will try it.
Also welcome to the kennels
Did you use puppy before? And post your PC specs if you don't mind.

Kdpup is working great for me, I didn't think I'd be able to play games like nexuiz and openarena in puppy but they both work in Kdpup.I installed them from the debian repos in ppm. They are older versions, nexuiz 4.2 and openarena 0.7.7 but still lots of fun to play.
My printer works too! I also downloaded openoffice from debian repos, version 2.4.1.
I have a full install of Kdpup on three computers.
pc 1 = Compac Presario S6700NX
1.5 GB ram, p4 2.8 with ht
radeon 9200 agp graphics card
pc 2 = Hp Pavilion a810n
1.5 GB ram, athlon 64 3300+
radeon 9250 agp graphics card
pc 3 = Hp Pavilion a6220n
4 GB ram, Core 2 Duo E4500
Intel GMA 3100

Ktorrent |
|
found that Ktorrent (the Rolls-Royce of bittorrents) would not work but that Transmission did work so there was not a firewall problem or similar.
The problem was with the permissions for /root/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/. Changed that and Ktorrent works.

Silly question, how do you install pets? I have a number of pets downloaded but when i click on them I get Ark. I guess I am spoiled with just clicking on a pet and having it installed in the appropriate location. This reminds me of the old days when the big question with Linux was how do I and where do I install a program.
This pup certainly runs quickly and has lots of things to amuse me.
Thanks for the hard work.

Dejan, can I use the dpup devx at http://dpup.org/test/dpup484beta3-2.6.30.5/ or do you have your own?

@ fishy what shark1 said, you can also check "Remember association for this type" so it will be remembered next time you can just click on it
@tubeguy, yes use dpup's devx, since kdpup's base is dpup, I don't have my own.

kdpup is great |
|
got kdpup up and running again today.
on p4302/ 1g ram and dsl is smooth.
on home rig, p4 2.4mzh/512 w/1g swap it runs nice but dailup slows some things.
I have been using dpup for 6 months. kdpup looks like a good addition to the community for those who want kde and since it fixes the IM problems for the moment.
very nice work dejan.

Startmount |

Startmount doesn't seem to work - selected drives are not mounted on restart.
Any Suggestions?

Hmm, I haven't used that, I usually make script to mount drives and put it in startup folder, but I will check it out later.
