no go :(

Something interesting perhaps. Using the tools>eject disc the same happens if a disc is in the drive, BUT if the drive is empty, then the drive opens and stays open.

Also, if a disc is in the drive and I click tools>eject disc and then quickly minimise the gui it will stay open... could it be something to do with JWM? (probably not)

Damn it, - how hard can it be

I have put an extra check in gtkdialog <progressbar> code.
cddetect_quick is (also) run directly from the gtkdialog code.

Ok, now, it didn't work, and I waited about 10 seconds too.

I notice if I use the tools> eject disc method, if I wait for all disc activity to cease then the drawer won't pop back in. That is about 10 seconds on my system, but we are an impatient species as you know! How many will wait?

I am confused.

Has anything at all become better with the test-release?

Yes!!!!

Hi guys, just discovered this conversation. Last night I burned 2 audio cds with pburn3.1.9 in my woofed up version of unofficial 432. Both times the behaviour was as Flash and 01micko describe. Tray opened, not even all the way, and immediately closed. If I was very fast about changing discs then it burned. If I was a little slow then the computer froze requiring ctrl+alt+backspace to get going again. Needless to say the burn had to be restarted.

Just tried pburn3.2.4 and it worked perfectly! At end of copy tray opened and stayed open until I switched discs and pushed close button. At end of burn tray quickly opened and closed, but then the finished message appeared on screen and when I clicked finished the tray opened and stayed open. Very Nice! Good work as usual.

Thanks, J

I have just tried to blank a cd with 3.2.4 and the drawer did the same as before, opened and shut very fast on clicking finished.

Sorry, I haven't had time to try out the new version.

I vaguely recall that the opening and immediate closing of the tray is associated with the flushing of some cache or temporary working memory.

EDIT: Forget this post, - I think I got it

Testing needed!!!

Some more tweaking, so please use the attached 3.2.4

Verify tester:
Start Pburn and open tray by using the button on the burner device. If it closes at once, you are a qualified tester. I have yet no solution for keeping tray open while you work in the main window. To get this work go to test 1.

TEST 1: Click on menu>tools>eject disc. Does the tray stay open or does it close? Using this option, tray should be closed by menu>tools>Load tray

TEST 2: Burn whatever, so you reach either the error-box of the finish-box. (Do NOT tick the for skipping auto-eject.). Does the tray stay open or does it close after you click the 'Finished' button?

Thanks a lot for your time
Sigmund

I noticed your edit to the above post but i thought i would post my results anyway. Every action worked as you described it would and the tray stayed closed with the "eject when finished button" unticked, using the tools/eject disc opens tray and it stays open "load tray" closes it.
This is how i have been using your program since i encountered the tray problem with the auto closing tray.
One other possible problem is that cd/dvd desktop icon does not show if a disc is inserted after Pburn is running, if the disc is already inserted before starting Pburn then a desktop icon is visible.

ziggy.. link is wrong mate

cheers (back with report soon)

ok, back with report.

I am happy to report that the major bug of the drawer jamming my slow fingers is fixed :D

A couple of minor issues, probably as a side effect of this fix.
1) I copied a music CD. I inserted the disk and waited for a little while, as you are asked in the progressbar but I got the window "please insert disc". I ignored that and carried on to successfully copy the disc.

2)As you will see in the screeny, the progressbar didn't reach the report of the size of the disc. Maybe bug 2) is related to bug 1) ? It looks like the actual size of the bar is correct, just the text didn't show.

Cheers

zigbert I gave pburn 3.2.5 a run at burning a DVD the other night an it did a great job except for the last 30 minutes or so where the copy was quite pixelated and the movies would occasionally pause momentarily.

Is this caused due to copy protection, if there is any?

A shrink problem?

or maybe an inferior DVD disk?

or is this the best one can expect?

The quality of the burn was amazing for most of the disk.

This is not something I normally do but I was interested to see if it would work and if so, how well.

I normally use pburn to turn my .MOV files into DVD and it works great.

Thanks

I have posted this to bugs Quirky021 and Mr K suggested
that I also report the problem to you.

As I have made a full install of Quirky021 and your latest version Pburn 3.2.5

Problem is not seeing my rom-drives on the desktop.

I have two drives in my desktop machine, one CD-RW and one DVD-RW,
with this version of quirky only one shows up on the desktop, and that
is sr0 (cd-rw) I think! I was hoping that sr1 might also be there, not so !

When it comes to using the latest version of pburn and calling on properties I have sr0 as cd-rw and dvd-rw as sr1 so maybe that looks
ok!

But if I put a cd into sr0 and return to tools in pburn and call to eject the cd, this call is sent to the DVD drive and not the CD drive

So what's going on here? I also note that with a disc placed in drive that
a mounted icon does not popup! - The mount icon only comes up when
called from through the mount command.

Maybe I need to go back and check with some previous version
of Quirky and Pburn

Thanking you Tui

Not sure if you mean a blank disk. If so, then, since there is no filesystem on it, it can't be mounted. I think Linux can only mount filesystems (not empty media.)

Oddly enough, Puppy, at least, if not Linux in general, will not mount standard audio CDs. They have a filesystem, of sorts, but apparently it is so primitive that Puppy considers it with contempt.
