8-bit.. not yet, just mainly testing that it works, only dummy updates at the moment. They might have a wallpaper or a simple script.

Lupu 112 fresh frugal install. No problem with X or with intel driver.
I have had flawless video install with every recent Lupu. I just havent reported good news.

Network connection and firefox installation straightforward as with previous Lupus.

Finnish keyboard needed xorg.conf creation, after that xorg video wizard opened and I was able to change
layout from xorg menu. Still us keyboard on console after quitting X. But that is no problem for me.

Cups 1.4.2 works now straight after installing foo2xxx...pet with my HP Laserjet 1020. Great !!!

Quickpets works fine on my machine just like with previous Lupus. Icon is now fixed.

I will test gnome-mplayer installation from repo when I have time.

Looks really promising with this quick testing. Really good work and really fast update cycle !!

(partition is ext3, also fails on FAT.)(my lupu009.iso was correctly created from an xdelta006-009 Edit: no scratch that bit, I downloaded 009 from my sometimes available open wifi china proxy, however my 008 was xdelta created from my 006)

quickpet icon over partition icons on first boot.

first run configuration window is too big for my screen and cannot be moved through the top of the screen with the usual alt+drag so i can't see below "locale". maximizing the window still cant see the bottom.
this non dragging from other than in/from the top bar occurs in other widows too eg chat and rox. first time i have noticed this problem in any lupu and it is a issue that was addressed elsewhere many moons ago.cant recall exactly where though.

quickpet fails/freezes for pwidgets before quickpet-bugfix-1.1.pet installation.
quickpet also fails/freezes after quickpet-bugfix-1.1.pet installation. keyboard was unresponsive after fix.pet installation and required restart x to make the keyboard work again.

Try this one, it partially addresses stu90's and dalderton's issues, without breaking for others,

stu90 and dalderton, if it fails for you please report any error messages and if you can look in /tmp/xerrs.log. There are some other file in /tmp to look at but I will devise a way to catch those errors to a file and see if I can get anything useful out of it, thanks for cooperation.

edit: xerrs.log did contain some meaningfull stuff but as is now may point to a problem with pup zip. will try and get the real error stuff again.

OK, I'm running 112! I see some improvements, but it still needs some more.

First I ran it pfix=ram and used xrandr to set video resolution. First Run Configuration said to make the resolution permanent, but xrandr itself still said don't, more than once. I think this would be very confusing to a new user. The instruction to restart X after using xrandr, because JWM wouldn't display correctly if you didn't, was helpful, but I think this also would not be pleasing to new users. Also, after I used xrandr, I did have 1024 x 768 resolution, but half of the "M" of "AM" in the time display on the IceWM taskbar was cut off (after I installed IceWM and switched to it). I think this means the entire right edge of the display was getting cut off by several pixels at least.

I then exited to prompt and ran Xorgwizard, which now does work, but it needlessly repeats the timezone, locale, and keyboard steps before getting to X video. Xorgwizard fixed the cut-off-edge problem.

MY SUGGESTION: Why not just dump xrandr and tell users that, if they want to change the resolution, exit to prompt and use Xorgwizard? It's simple, it's time-tested, it works right. If my own past experience is any guide, I don't think new users will be put off by the fact that Xorgwizard uses ncurses instead of X graphics. I still remember the first time I booted Linux (Red Hat 5.2) back in 1999, and I saw the text-based installer that used ncurses. I didn't care what it looked like; all I cared about was that it was the first step toward freedom from Windows!

The drive icons are still a problem. The CD drive icon was too far to the left, among the HD icons, which were too far down so the drive names were hidden by the taskbar. I moved the HD icons up and they subsequently stayed up, but CD and flash drive icons consistently appear in the wrong place.

After observing these things, I rebooted with no pfix=ram and used the lupusave.3fs file I created with 111. Here are the things that didn't work right in the upgrade: I got JWM and the default background back in 112, when I was running IceWM with a custom background in 111. The clock reverted to GMT, when I had it on US-Eastern in 111. Worst of all, I got the default desktop icon arrangement back, when I had made several additions and changes in position in 111. This is a serious defect in the upgrading procedure, "IMHO."

One more little thing: font display. On the IceWM titlebars, taskbar, and menu, the fonts from my "Pa Penguin's Favorite Free Fonts" package are imperfectly displayed, with missing pixels. Same goes for AbiWord, but not for TextMaker 2010 (which didn't come with Lucid Puppy!). In Puppy 4.3.1, the same fonts look fine.

On the bright side (in addition to all the good things I didn't waste time mentioning because they haven't needed to be fixed) . . . PRINTING WORKS!!!
