What you say perhaps makes sense, assuming that Pwireless2 was installed intentionally by the user. However, puplet creators are including it by default in some puplets, so Pwireless2 has to behave nicely when no wireless card is there, and when the user is using the old wizard - the startup script may be intentionally disabled.

When I get a chance, I'll download upup and see what the necessary modifications are to get the startup script to run correctly.

If no, try running /etc/init.d/Pwireless2 from the command line and see if there are errors.

I think Barry did it that way on purpose. He has some blog entries about how you're supposed to activate either Pwireless2 or the network wizard. Bug reports should go to him.

up and down connections

#184 Post by GrumpyWolfe »

Hi jemimah

Hope you can give me some idle what may be going on. I built MyWolfe-011 with only Pwireless2 for internet connections. I relly like using ttuuxx alsaplayer with streamer but with the wifi connections going up and down the alsaplayer keeps losing contact. Now unlike before I had to manually reconnect it does it all for me.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah that's what I thought, ath9k.

It's a kernel bug that causes it crap out under heavy load. I haven't had a problem with mine since updating to 2.6.33. Unfortunately there seems to be an aufs issue on 2.6.33 so you might want to wait until that gets sorted before upgrading.

Thank you for the information. For some reason in MyWolfe-010 I did not seam to have as much problem but when I made MyWolofe-011 I removed net_setup and a lot of other internet connection soft ware and was having this interment connections so was just looking for clues.

Again thanks

Did you say you're using 2.6.31 on version 11? I don't think the problem is as bad on 2.6.30.5.

Wireless interface not detected
I am getting this massage after installing pwireless2 on my NOP puppy 413 full install with netgear card (REALTEK SEMICONDUCTOR RTL 8180L).
With network wizard works fine. But I am loosing internet connection like every 30 minutes, so I want to try with pwireless but it doesn't work

That looks ok. Maybe NOP doesn't run init scripts either.

Try running /etc/init.d/Pwireless2 (from command line or clicking it should work) and see if that fixes it. If it does, you should be able to move it to /root/Startup and it should get run from there.

thank you jemimah :) it works now
I didn't had to put the pwireless in to startup folder. I went to the etc/init.d directory and click it once and since then it work.
But anoter one question. Can I slow down the starting process of pwireless2? It startup to fast- so it doesn't get the connection and it shows me IP adress failed. so I have to start pwireless manually on every start. I tried to set sleep in the startup folder - but it change only the startup of the trace icon but not pwireless.
Thanks

If you move /etc/init.d/Pwireless2 to the startup folder, I think it will fix it. That will make it run later and make sure it actually runs.

Hey Jemimah,

Just wanna say I've got all the laptops in house using Pwireless2 and it's awesome! The autoconnect for me is the best thing about it, and second best thing is probably the one click connect/disconnect. Thanks so much Jemimah.

Wireless settings are pretty boring, just mac filtering with no encryption. I should try and set up some form of encryption though...

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hoping I'll get around to updating this soon. I need to see what Barry's doing with SNS and maybe learn a few things.
