gettext is used to convert .po files, produced by poedit to .mo (message files), so I think is needed

Hi dingo,
Now, on my rig (ToutouLinux4.1.2 = french translation of Puppy4.1.2)
I installed the poedit_1.4.2-3_forPuppy412-i686.pet.
The dependencies check asked for (maybe not present in this specific ToutouLinux)
I then downloaded libsasl2-2.0.22.tar.gz
here (thanks to ttuuxxx !)
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/Libs/
and placed the libs under usr/lib/
Woks nice !
thanks again!
Cheers Charlie

I wondered what was so unique about Poedit?
Apparently it is used in translating. Puppy in new languages?

Hehe.... The world is a big place: over 8 billion people speak 6,800 languages in more than 220 countries (or states).

Hence the need for such a tool as PoEdit!
Best.
