User sinc posted a ati + radeon driver pet package at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=401287#401287 for 2.14, now the thing is, I didn't compile it and I looked up the same sources and tried to compile it, well lets just say next to impossible with the older Xorg in 2.14X, Either 2.14X was missing files or the version numbers were outdated, and the sources are only 6 months, how this pet package works on sinc's pc I have no idea, drivers usually compile against the kernel and gcc, and that package wasn't against 2.14X, but it does have a i486 extension maybe it was a slackware compile, if so it might be the same glibc since 2.14x has series 3 glibc, anyways anybody else have a ati or radeon ati card, could you please test this package, it would be cool if we could have a updated ati driver like this, Smile
also could you test asap because I'm still building the final and could use the results to determine if I should install this driver in 2.14x.
ttuuxxx
I use the ati_drv, and the one in this pet does not work. Re-running xorgwizard forces xorg to default to the flickering Xorg vesa driver. Also, the originally included ati_drv was approx 52kb, while ati_drv in this pet is only 4kb, something's seriously wrong with the drivers in this pet.

I thought it was too good to be true, so he's probably defaulting to the vesa driver. That's what thinking. oh well. lol
hmmm we 41 changes, I think I might be best if I release this as RC4 and then after some testing for a few days, If all goes well then release it as final, Well we still need some help documents, I'll start on the pburn changes. etc.
Oh by the way even if Evince is cut down a little, really only the one format, It still opens , PS,PDF, EPS, SVG (even the ones inkscapelite can't open Smile ),png, jpg, that I've tried

Yes, and the sidepanel with index/thumbnails speaks in favour of evince over epdfview, especially when viewing larger documents.

Cheers Smile/

Anyone want to name the next release just before the final ? after 41 updates really its going to need testing, plus it needs a help section, plus I need to update the icons in the control panel and finally maybe edit the Pup-Radio playlist to stations that work with streamripper. Just a small update for the final would be best
right now as the name goes, this is my idea lol
214X-PreFinal-01-lol.iso
If anyone can think of a better one in the next 5 minutes I'll use it Smile

ttuuxxx

- update control panel icons
- add a help section
- change the colour of the updated volume control CLARFFFFFFF!!!!!!! lol (simple I'll do it )
- Get recordable PupRadio Stations
- Maybe get Pburn to auto unmount the CD drive at startup just after the splash screen

ttuuxxx,

that´s name is OK, but without a number, if you keep PreFinal-01, then we could end with PreFinal-02, PreFinal-03, etc. a never ending history...

Volume control colors?. well, I have to see the new look first Very Happy
Documentation, I think I can help with it.
I was thinking in the splash screen at boot, I´ll look at this and report if I can implement it.

About Pburn, really never used it. Does the problem appear in first users screen?. I mounted a DVD drive and Pburn could read its data, still don´t see what´s the problem.

Clarrrffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I listened to you and now the taskbar drive icons won't unmount, I just reused the ones from v16, mount and unmount scripts only and boom I can mount but not unmount, The first real show stopper in about 10 releases, lol
Claaaaaarrrrrrrrrffffffffffffffff ,LOLOLOLOLOLOL
I should revert the mount unmount scripts back to RC3 before uploading this release.

ok first mount dvdrw/cdrw then launch pburn, abd try to format or burn a cd.
on my pc it doesn't tell you anything, it just doesn't work until you unmount it manually.

Hmmm, that´s weird I never had a problem with mount/umount in previous releases to RC2, then in RC3 I started to had problems with Samba and get a weird error message at boot cause the symlink to /proc/mount.

I´ll check the problem later updating those scripts. Meanwhile, Take a little break and relax ttuuxxx, seems that you are a little tired after so many changes Very Happy , 41 changes amazing and it was the third Release Candidate Shocked .

clarf

P.S: Did you deleted that symlink /etc/mount. I think that file can´t be updated by previous scripts because it already exist as a relative link. I´m not a Puppy now then I can´t check that...

I reverted the mount/unmount scripts back to RC3 and all is fine, now Smile, plus I added another mime Smile, plus I'll change the volume control background, then package it up again Smile

Or, maybe you're using the radeon drivers included in the .pet, they might work. I'm using the ati_drv for my (once modern) ati card.
