Hmmm what I can say it will work in the final Smile
The reason why it failed is that before I compiled the same Ghostscript version that fixed the issue, the issue probably arise when I compiled the latest png with apng Smile like a year ago, because of it being newer, the older ghostscript no longer functioned, I could post the updated Ghostscript package but its like 5MB, so I would have to upload it, too big for the forum. So I'll just update 2.14X and add it Smile So keep the pet handy Smile It works with PDF and GS files.

Hi ttuuxxx

Whilst on the subject of missing libs, would you know about pmodemdiag.pet....
When trying to start pmodemdiag, I get command not found...maybe a missing lib as it's intended for 412 & 421, I think

I have been trying to get a Three UK 3G modem working on a friend's Pentium mmx box using RC1, ....I have installed USB-modeswitch.pet, which seems to function OK, but I'm darned if I can get the thing to connect & don't know what may be wrong....
I've posted in rerwin's 3G thread for help with the modem

Aitch Smile

Hi I'll take one stab at this Smile
This is a how to page
http://polishlinux.org/linux/ubuntu/three-uk-3g-modem-in-ubuntu-linux/
It says you need wv and gnome-ppp which both packages for 2.14X can be found at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=403429#403429
then I compiled the driver that was located http://oozie.fm.interia.pl/pro/huawei-e220/#WORKAROUND
you never gave me the make/model of the modem so I went with what I could find. Hope its the same.
so you need 3 packages, the driver below, and wv and gnome-ppp and just follow the directions above.
ttuuxxx

ps I included the huawei readme file, when you install the package the file will be located in root.

User sinc posted a ati + radeon driver pet package at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=401287#401287 for 2.14, now the thing is, I didn't compile it and I looked up the same sources and tried to compile it, well lets just say next to impossible with the older Xorg in 2.14X, Either 2.14X was missing files or the version numbers were outdated, and the sources are only 6 months, how this pet package works on sinc's pc I have no idea, drivers usually compile against the kernel and gcc, and that package wasn't against 2.14X, but it does have a i486 extension maybe it was a slackware compile, if so it might be the same glibc since 2.14x has series 3 glibc, anyways anybody else have a ati or radeon ati card, could you please test this package, it would be cool if we could have a updated ati driver like this, Smile
also could you test asap because I'm still building the final and could use the results to determine if I should install this driver in 2.14x.

ttuuxxx, I was playing with BootManager to make it work, as you know the blacklist and user modules is not working. So I made some changes to rc.modules and rc.local to enable these BootManager options. I did many test and not negative feedback was received...

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=42553&start=3120

Then I wanted to add a new feature to BootManager as latest woof builds, I wanted to manage System Services (/etc/init.d) from there. Hiawatha has his own service script there and BootManager is used to control it, BootManager code is simple: it lists all normal files in that route, and change the executable permissions to enable or not the start service at boot. 214X comes with cups, firewalll and Hiawatha service sripts, for each possible service file listed I added a description... It´s a nice feature that works really fine.

I'm glad to hear you solved your problem. Seems there are no new bugs to report...

As we are close to the final release, I created a new release-2.14X.html document with information about changes made in 214X...

clarf

Do you have a help document? The one in 2.14X doesn't have much help in it, should have how to get online, dialup, wired, wiress and probably printing. Those are usually the 2 main issues new users run into. Most of the forum threads in the help section I would say relate to that.

Woof builds have a index.html that links to some how-to files. I could look them tomorrow, I think the one missed is wireless but Tempestous guide could be more than enough...

how this pet package works on sinc's pc I have no idea,

you are funny. i have no idea either I wish I could help you but... I install the pet package, rerun xorgwizard, and then type startx and I am up and running and I no longer freeze my system in firefox like what happens without it. i wasn't expecting you to include that pet package in the build but it does work for me.

i used clarf's boot manager fixes with no issues. they seemed to work well (of course). Laughing

i really thought this was gonna be a much smaller project than what you are undertaking. i appreciate it and hope it is fun for you. you're doing great work, thats why all the constant praise in all the threads I suppose.
