Pawm.pup doesn't work?
HI just tried pawm.pup in 1.0.3 bare bones and in 1.0.2 50m.
After installation of pup file:
ctrl-alt-bs to exit X
startx pawm
(X was starting - grey meshed bg; the exiting)
I could not find any specific error message..?
ldd shows all libs are found..?
PS

I tried it too.
Move to the bottom of the screen to activate the menu bar - which seems to be very minimal - just as it says . . .
- eh maybe it is too minimal, all I got was a bar, no menus?

pawm error message
That's the contents of /tmp/xerrs.txt from startx pawm in 1.0.3 bare bones:
*** INTERNAL ERROR, please report so it can be fixed!
* Process 1396 aborting...
* errno <2> (No such file or directory)
* pawn-2.0.1 (pawindow) pawindow_init()@src/pawindow.c:1558
Report bugs to David Gomez <david@pleyades.net>
I assume an important difference between 1.0.3 full (were it is working?)
and 1.0.3 bare bones and 1.0.2 50m versions. Probably it is searching for
icon files etc. that it can not found? To bad, that it doesn't tell what is missing/not found

mp3blaster dotpup
mp3blaster version 3.2.0
a non graphical mp3 player for Puppy
home: http://www.stack.nl/~brama/mp3blaster.html
mp3blaster.pup by Bruce B - June 2005
This is an excellent full featured non-graphical mp3 player for use
with the console.
It works well with icewm and the aterm dotpup package by GuestToo.
It also works well in command line mode.
There are key binding conflicts with rxvt while running X
at least with F1, F2, F3, F4 and maybe more.
You might be able to work around the key-binding problems with
.mp3blasterrc, but I recommend aterm because I think
it is an easy solution.
To use: simply type mp3blaster on the command line to bring up the
interface.
File list:
/root/my-applications/bin/nmixer
/root/my-applications/bin/mp3tag
/root/my-applications/bin/mp3blaster
/root/my-applications/lib/libsidplay.so.1.0.3

madplay 0.15.2 (beta)
Command-line mp3 player
madplay.pup packaged for Puppy by Bruce B, June 2005
home: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mad/
------------------------
Puppy has command-line utilities for playing cdroms, wav files and with this dotpup
package you can play .mp3 files from the command-line.
The actual name of this player is 'madplay'. Puppy has a madplay symlink that
links to Gxine. This presents a slight naming conflict, so I renamed 'madplay' to
'mp3play'. It works just the same.
After installing the dotpup package you can decide if you wish to delete Puppy's
link to Gxine at /usr/local/bin/madplay and rename mp3play to madplay.
I hope you enjoy this little utility.
--------------------------------
Filelist:
/usr/share/doc/madplay/
/usr/share/doc/madplay/madplay.html
/usr/share/doc/madplay/copyright
/usr/share/doc/madplay/madplay.man.txt
/root/my-applications/lib/libmad.so.0
/root/my-applications/lib/libmad.so.0.2.1
/root/my-applications/bin/mp3play
I recommend reading madplay.man.txt in the doc directory for
learning keyboard shortcuts

PDF Conversion Wizard
I've created a PDF conversion wizard that uses Abiword and Ghostscript in a two-stage process. There is the usual gui interface and a cli, which is a bit quicker.
Once installed, click on puppyPDF to run the wizard, or type
puppyPDF -i <inputfile> -o <outputfile>
I have included a dodge little icon if you want to associate it with the puppyPDF file in /root/my-applications/bin.
I've used functions in the script, which means bash is required for it to execute. I think bash is standard from Puppy 1.0.3 and onwards??

less version 382 - dotpup
less version 382 - by Mark Nudelman
Less is a small feature rich utility for displaying text files and output
from the command line.
Home http://www.greenwoodsoftware.com/less/
------------------------------------------------------
Less382.pup packaged by Bruce B - June 2005
This package includes the following two files:
/root/my-applications/bin/less (the executable)
/usr/share/doc/less.html (documentation written by me)
Typical uses for less are viewing text files bigger than the height of the screen.
For text files with only a few lines, you would use cat.
Also used for large outputs such as ls listings which scroll off the page. With less,
you can backup or move forward using the appropriate keyboard keys, and view the beginning of
the output.
A couple simple usage examples:
* for viewing ls output:
ls -la | less
* for viewing a file:
less /etc/services
Less can do much more than described above, you can visit the homepage to
get details of how to use its many features.
Enjoy!

I've come across some neat JWM themes, and thought I'd bottle them for you all.
BTW, thanks, Barry, for introducing us to JWM! I'm finding it an excellent replacement for IceWM. Very customizable
Check out joesbox's site for more themes, and an example of how to create your own:

thanks thoughtjourney - did not work for me (I have had problems with JWM in the past)- but it all seems to be there
It may be the resolution or some other feature - would be interested in screen shots
Also I do not quite understand the file sizes the forum is reporting? They seem larger than they actually are? What is the difference between the two posts.
Have I confused myself again?
