That is weird, because, I just borrowed 1.64.6 streamripper from my Mint 8 and placed it in /usr/bin of Puppy 421 and 431, it worked in both. It put the recorded mp3 file in /root under the name of the stream. I used gxine to hear them. Here is a pet.

Hi timremy
Changed the .gz to a .pet file for you. Just left click on the pet after you download it to whichever your download directory is (/root/my-documents is default for seamonkey in Puppy, normally).
If it works for you, it will be installed with the Puppy Package Manager.
Streamripper will place the recorded .mp3/.aac file in /root (click on home/file icon on desktop). Then look for a directory with the stream name on it, then you have to open up the incomplete directory which will have the recorded file in it. Open the same location with gxine.

Hi timremy
You must first delete the stream name directory and reboot and give it a try again. The directory is in /root.

I may have found a glitch with recording though.
If you record songs from a site and the directory is created and then later record songs from the same site, that previously created directory gets overwritten and the previously recorded music is lost.
If that is not the case, something else happened for me as I lost about 27 country-western songs I had recorded.

hi 8-bit
Any recorded file you want to keep, should be renamed and moved to a music directory. Because the name is based on the location of the stream.

I learned that the hard way!
But I was able to make a music CD for my wife complete with song title that would display on the CD player in her car.
That is before the songs got deleted.

trapster,
I guess you are not a big country/western fan.
Of course, I also used You2pup to grab an early video of American Pie.
The song video, not the movie.
