Has anyone created ibus pet for puppy?
Recently I happened to see the Omega Spin of Fedora 12. It has ibus keyboard input bundled with it, and what is more attractive is that I could type in phonotic Tamil on the fly! Has anyone attempted or have created ibus pet for puppy?
iBus - possible alternate to SCIM
Looks good...source available here
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/
Anyone able to do a .pet?

ibus
Thank you for the replies.
Actually I am newbie to Linux.
I have installed (frugal) lighthousepup (443f) and am very satisfied with it. What i miss is the input methods. I tried to install SCIM using available pets, but it doesn't work.
If anyone can guide me how to create a pet or SFS, if possible, I would try my best.

Hi Unfortunately no-one is working on scim at the moment, AFAIK
Irihapeti was the last person actively involved

How is this useful and to whom?
It also sounds like gtk will need to be compiled with xinput support as in 4.2 series as well as requiring dbus. I don't know if Barry's version includes xinput or not since my tablet is now collecting dust due to a dead fan.
How is this different/better than just having gtk with xinput enabled?
Does it prevent having to install keymaps or something?
Would other programs need to be recompiled to support it via dbus (no puppy programs are compiled with dbus support) - or is it a layer or something?

Puppy used to have SCIM & SCIM-Bridge support, last maintained by Irihapeti
see my earlier links
However she has now moved on, and both *buntu & Fedora are citing SCIM errors/lack of upstream maintenance, for adoption of iBus
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/desktop-karmic-input-methods
Puppy is in danger of losing gained international ground, if we do nothing in this area to support internationalisation, IMO, and needs better support
