moblock-monitor IP range blocker tray icon

#1 Post by tazoc »

If you use a file-sharing application such as Vuze/Azureus, MoBlock can make it a bit safer by blocking connections to IPs on several large blocklists.

This pet includes MoBlock, moblock-control, Mobloquer GUI and my light-weight tray app moblock-monitor. Mobloquer also has a tray app although it can be resource intensive and some of its settings do not work properly. More info here.

By default the blocklists are updated every day at noon. This can be changed if desired via 'Schedule automatic updates' option, or disabled by renaming '/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root'. The automatic updates are important because the blocklists are updated frequently.

moblock-0.9~rc2-23_i386.pet 9086K md5.txt

I tested this in Puppy 4.30, though it may work in other 4.xx as well. Recommend to restart X after installing and choose Help/About from the 'm' tray icon. The first time you enable MoBlock it will d/l some blocklists first and this can take a few minutes. Then MoBlock will start and the icon will change from beise to blue.

jockjunior,
Sorry about that, I've blocked some IPs that were using >3GB bandwidth at lhpup.org, and yours might have been included if someone else was using it (dynamic IP assignment). Please PM me the first 3 octets of your IP, e.g., mine is 71.115.243, leaving out the the numbers after the third dot, and I'll unblock it if I have.

If you don't have your IP already you can find it here: http://whatsmyip.net/

Or try this mirror: http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/Lighthouse/pet-4/

pass: linux
