Unable to connect wirelessly with UM175 device

I am new to Linux and have just istalled puppy 4.3.1 I cannot get it to finish connecting to the internet. My connection goes as far as giving me a number pid It flashes the lights on the littlr computers but will not make the final connection. Is this a signal strength problem or is their something else that needs to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
