How to view processor utilization per core?
How would I view the processor utilization for each core if I have a dual or quad core processor? top only gives me the average of all the cores.

one convenient tool
While others may give you the details of how to get to the data used in system monitors, I'll suggest you simply install gkrellm, which is on my desktop now, continuously showing graphs for utilization of two cores.
if i remember right you have to press 'c' while running top.

gkrellm 2.3.2
Just in case you didn't find this. Here's a link to the version of gkrellm 2.3.2 ttuuxxx compiled for the Puppy 4.x series. This is what I'm running right now, on Boxpup 431. The appearance comes from the "trublu" skin, from the tarball downloaded from www.muhri.net. I originally posted this to show trio that his cpu frequency scaling pet was working on multi-core processors. The reported temperatures are much lower than without it.
