HOWTO install thunderbird + install webmail

#1 Post by blue aliens »

EDIT: The new thunderbird does hotmail automatically.

Okay. First how-to. I will show you how to install thunderbird in puppy and install webmail. eg-hotmail, yahoo, Gmail.

1. Go to http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ and press 'Free Download'

2. Extract the folder to 'Root'

3. Drag the file 'thunderbird' to desktop.

4. Set the icon you wish by right clicking then going to 'file thunderbird' then pressing set icon. I recomend using the default for your icon set by navigating to /usr/local/lib/x11/themes/(YOU THEME). select email and drag onto the dialog.

THE THUNDERBIRD IS GO!

5. Now go to http://webmail.mozdev.org/installation.html. download the WebMail extention and you webmail account extention. Right click then save file as.

6. Open thunderbird and press tools then add-ons

7. Press install then select the 'WebMail' extention you downloaded. e.g webmail-1-2-2-4.xpi wait for it to install.

8. Do the same, but this time select your webmail account download. e.g. hotmail-1-2-2-4.xpi

9. restart thunderbird and when it asks you to create account select webmail. Follow the instructions

10. DONE

Hope this helped.

Or use an existing .pet file, Thunderbird:

(sorry, couldn't find the link to the Firefox 3.5 .pet install right this moment)

It's not. But you can use it to install Thunderbird the Puppy way, and get updated menus and the like, then manually install the latest over it.

Worked for me. There may have been transient problems at the host storing the pet. Try again later.
