When you reach Final (will there be any final?...It's such ajoy building an OS ), why don't you make a retro version? Or may be you'd like to give the Stardust magic generator script (making stardust from 431 retro) or the detailed list of what you've changed. Many would love to have stardust on their dinosaurs
Cheers | Let things settle a bit, before we spread the Stardust code. It is much easier to keep the developer role (rather than; Manager of compatibility issues) when working inside a hardcoded Puppy Stardust.

Thank goodness I found something. Now, I can go to bed.) | Let's talk about snap-shot tools. I think ttuuxxx/minhundhetteperro have made a great tool, but it's too big for Stardust. I will recommend it to those who are looking for a power-tool. Now look at Trios snap-shot tool in Puppy/Stardust. The main problem is not the function, but its name: mtpaintsnapshot.sh interferes with mtpaint when Stardust tries to detect icon (see mtpaint in Favorites menu) via globicons. It would be nice to have it renamed and a new .desktop file. Also; why not let the user set the delay time. 10 sec could be the default choice.

Be aware that these themes will require more ram, even if they are not in the iso. I decided to choose those 4 colors based on what I have seen of screenshots on this forum. Violet is also used........ In the end we need to keep a balance between size and feature.
....but, oh yeah, it has a LOT more potential, than Stardust 007 shows.

Thanks a lot for the compiled packages!!!!
Uget is already in Puppy 4.3.1, but your pack is newer. I have included getez in Stardust. Is this doing the same as uget? I could possibly remove getez?
galculator??? I wonder why Barry never decided to use this galculator. I guess he has his reasons since it is added to the official repo?
Hopefully we manage in the future to give you a non-goth option using the global color schemes.

Very, very nice
Runs well on my old laptop.
(7yr old Patriot with 96mb ram and a 1Ghz celeron proc.)
frugal install along with several other puppy's.
This has to be one of the best puppy's for n00b's.
Fantastic - many thanks and very best regards - Ray

MhWaveEdit is already included for 008. - Thank you so much.
As ttuuxxx, I wonder about the glib. MhWaveEdit works with the old version. I see that your glib compile is much smaller, and that is of course interesting........but, is it safe ???

Hi Zigbert Pup-Shots size issue is due to libImlib2, iif you remove that lib the pet package is 33kb
libImlib2 is used by many programs these day, even micko was talking about it a few months back for pwidgets I think it was. But I know where your coming from about justifying the size for one application been doing it myself with 2.14X.

Yes Galculator is great, if you click view, you can change it to 3 different modes, the default is the basic mode, then you have scientific, paper mode. If you wanted to have it scientific mode by default just change it then copy over the /root/.galculator config to the iso.
Uget will replace getez 100%+, also it will replace pwsget also. Since Uget has passwords and username support. SO you can remove 2 apps.
As for the goth mode lol, the taskbar and menu are great, just the apps are a bit difficult like rxvt and Geany, Geany is really hard to focus on the code.

Well glib is okay to change but you'll have to update a devx, and remove the older parts and add the newer ones.

Stardust 007 on recalcitrant machine + my votes |
|
Just succeeded in getting Stardust 007 working on a machine with a frustrating BIOS. (I've been unable to get it to recognize more than 256 MB of installed RAM, or any SATA or IDE drives. It only boots off one particular USB drive.) This has allowed me to get new information about the problems. Even ignoring eye candy, 007 is useful as a patched version of 4.3.1. I'd suggest a service pack pet for BarryK.
Galculator is my choice for calculator. In keeping with my name, I'm committed to using RPN mode calculators. Others leave me in doubt about what will happen when I press a button. (Will it perform one operation, or several that were already pending?) This one gives me a choice without denying others the choice of algebraic mode. Same thing applies to scientific versus ordinary or paper tape. Considering all the different calculators it can replace, this is very compact.
I don't like a lot of bells and whistles on screen-shot utilities. When I want to use them, I'm generally thinking about something else -- the thing I want to show. Zigbert's suggested modification sounds very satisfactory.
I'm familiar with the overhead in things using Imlib. Unless you have another reason to include these, I would remove them.
Having CUPS smoothly integrated into the release may change my whole attitude to CUPS. It is starting to feel like an asset. I'm still chasing problems in supporting more printers with minimum overhead.

Here's a mime update I only change the mimes that were actually smaller in file size, about 80% of them are changed. The only one which was a tiny bit larger was the pet package icon, like 1/2kb larger, lol
Also Zigbert if you really want to weed out some space, if you go to /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons around 60% of them don't belong to anything, they are from a legacy linux icons from either X or fvwm95, I forget, I did sort them out once and sent Barry a updated icon pack, but he never used it, lol
