BMP Mediaplayer Sources

#1 Post by ttuuxxx »

Hi Guys, some time back when 4 series came out, we dropped gtk1.2 and went totally gtk2, that is good and bad, we lost the best wallpaper setter puppy ever had and also xmms, well if you add all the missing gtk1.2 stuff you can still use those, but it adds lots of extra weight for like 2 apps, Gposil fixed the wallpaper issue with another one and hopefully it will be default one of these days.
as Xmms goes there are a number of gtk2 music players, I've tried them all, Bmp by far is the best, its a gtk2 version of XMMS, and shares a lot of the plugins, The thing is BMP is a dead project, or is it ??? I came across a lot of new plugins that haven't seen for it before. You see Audacious is a fork of Beep Media Player 0.9.7.1 but its buggy, crash prone and really I just don't like it!! So I'm uploading sources here so that they can be found and used in future puppy versions, BMP is the default audio player in 2.14X and soon puppy 2.20

Ps I compiled BMP on 4.3.1 and some plugins located at

audlegacy is an early fork of audacious (which forked from BMP) that is more along the lines of the original BMP. I haven't tried to build it yet, but the sources are available here:

I compiled audlegacy from git -- required libmcs and libmowgli
It seems ok, but themes could be better and cutdown.
