Are there any video conversion programs?

#1 Post by jbeave »

Not sure if this is where I ask this, but are there? Specifically I'm looking for something similar to xvid4psp, I need something to convert .vob files into .mp4 that the PSP can read.

I did a search but nothing really came up so I thought I would ask. Thanks for any help.

WinFFis great. There's also PupFF a Puppy version of WinFF, but I haven't tried it.

Hope it's what you're after.

Alright thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to check them out.

I'm gonna try PupFF first, how is the video/audio syncing? I've used other programs on windows but just because it can do the job doesn't necessarily mean it can do it well.

I've never had any trouble with the syncing in WinFF, I use it loads :)

I don't recall any trouble with Avidemux, but I didn't use it much.

PupFF, haven't used it, but I don't see why there'd be trouble. Don't remember anyone complaining...

I can't get any of these to work on Transformers2 in 4.31.
Quite aggravating.

Hello
I'm not home right now but when I get in I'll post my ffmpeg command to make psp compatible (small end file but high quality) mp4's
not to worry found it

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -y -i inputfile -acodec aac -ab 128k -ar 48000 -ac 2 -s 480x272 -vcodec h264 -b 384k -coder 1 -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 -me hex -subq 5 -me_range 16 -g 250 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -b_strategy 1 -level 21 outputfile.mp4
you need to put the full path to the file and the name of the video must not have any spaces, the psp doesn't like playing anything that has a resolution that isn't divisible by 8 and a bitrate of 384 makes for a reasonably small file
I've done loads for my son and they look great.
you can stop the encoding at any time by pressing q if you want to check the results

What type input file do you start with? I guess my issue is just ripping the damn movies off the dvd.
I tried downloading Mediapup ths morning to help out with. Didn't get far with that one either.
