hi sinc maybe read the /tmp/xerrs.log and see if that gives you a error clue

About facebook chat, it happens because gxine is plugin for sound and when you receive message it tries to play that short beep, just disable sounds in chat options and won't happen anymore.

Hi guys,

I had some free time last weekend so I could fix the no partition/drive icons in desktop for Xvesa.

I attach this little fix.

clarf

EDIT: Updated fix, just one file modification. Sorry for the inconvenience latest pet size is 4 KB.

Thanks guys, I updated my fix.

Well I did some modification to HotPup scripts before, but I just noticed that the /etc/videomode file is created by Xvesa Wizard and all the modifications that I made for HotPup are unnecessary. The problem is that I never use "current" button from Xvesa Wizard, seems a common problem :) ...

Moreover you should always use the "current" button after choose the right video resolution, in this way the /tmp/videomode file is deleted and the Exit to Prompt works without restarting X.

Then my fix works, but I implemented a better way to fix the problem with only one single file modification. Although you forget to use "current" option, the desktop drive icons will be shown anyway.

Please see my previous post for the updated pet. The updated pet is just 4 KB size.

I updated micko's pupRadio for 2.14x
- removed the idiot box, lol well before if select a radio station preset from 1-8 a popup would say " now playing station etc" then you would have to click ok.
well I already knew that because I just pressed it. I'm not much on extra clicks that inform me what I just did and I have to click a box to make it go away.
- gave the app a cd icon for page title.
- reused the 2.14X pburn theme banner I made up :)
- changed some of sentences
- gave the frames some wording
- changed the last audio station, it wasn't working
- made it use the same menu icon as streamtuner, makes it easier to find in the list
enjoy

Nice work ttuuxxx,

Guys your support motivates me to work on 214X,

Long time ago I reported some error messages in xerrors.log, using ipinfo inside Internet Connection Wizard. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... start=2560

I did some research and find those errors where shown because the gtkdialog3 uses a loop for variable evaluations (used to define the Desktop icon application), although this evaluation didn't work either.

I fixed both problems in the Internet Connection Wizard, now there are no errors shown in xerrors.log for ipinfo and the change icon Desktop default application works (the radio buttons choices at ICW bottom)...

Hi clarf
I didn't have issues with it, but I tried your fix and it didn't mess anything up and since it fixes your issue, I'll toss it in :) Thanks once again

Hi ttuuxxx

Like your custom pupRadio for 2.14X 8) , looks great!

Do you think a timeout of say 10 seconds would be better on the "idiot box"? Gotta admit, when I first read that I thought you may have removed the telly bit, I'm sure we've all heard TV being referred to as "the idiot box"!

I only put in the xmessage because a user sometimes likes a response when they click something, as you know buffering can take from a couple of seconds to a minute dependent on the user's connection and the server's upload speed.

A timeout will remove that extra click

Cheers

on fast speed connections the #8 audio selection I changed loads up almost instant, maybe 1 second wait after gxine popups. adding 10 seconds would just slow it down, usually gxine does display at the bottom of it the buffering anyways.
Also sorry about the "idiot box" remark, the popup was trying my nerves when I was hacking your coding and was testing the changes I did, like 50 or times.

Hi ttuuxxx, thank you for testing it. :)

The issue I had was only shown when I closed ICW (Of course you had to use ipinfo inside ICW), anyway after several times ICW is opened, then used ipinfo icon, then closing ICW, the xerrors.log was growing big full of errors.

So it was a big issue for me.

The change default icon connect in desktop is working now, so if users change it to something like gtkdial they could had a hard time to find Internet Connection Wizard and roll back that change. Although I like that functionality because you can decide What you really want to be launched with one click, an entry for ICW is totally necessary in Puppy Control Panel.

I´m updating Control Panel entries right now, will upload it in minutes.

clarf.

well it is kind of an idiot box!

It wont slow anything as it runs aside and is small enough process not to effect anything. It is only the xmessage which would timeout. Many of the stations start for me within 1 to 5 seconds, except that French one you changed, it was slow, and sometimes needed 2 or 3 attempts, but I figured our European users would get it much quicker. I mainly put in the xmessage because I developed this at first on dpup which has no gxine... mplayer runs in the background using radio streams so a user wouldn't know if anything happened.

Still, for my main release, I might ditch the xmessage for gxine and xine and only have it display for mplayer. :)

Cheers

Hey micko guess what your last post broke the largest thread on http://www.murga-linux.com :)
2.14x is finally tied with pwidgets as the forums largest thread, 178 to 178 pages :)
It only took almost 1 yr. I keep trying to wind down 2.14X and it keeps coming back hitting, I'm thinking its a keeper :)
Congrads all 2.14x users/contributors a milestone was broken today :)

Ok guys I had my testing PC build the latest QT yesterday, it took around 6hrs X3, I had to do it 3 times, I didn't like the default directory it was build in. So now its integrates with the default file system.
this is how it breaks down

most will only need to use http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14se ... 1-i386.pet 35MB basic qt with webkit

then if you want to compile you'll need 3.7mb pet
http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14se ... .0-dev.pet

If you want to locals, docs, examples, man this is big 107MB pet, what are they thinking???????
http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14se ... amples.pet

If you want the 2MB debug stuff, not really needed
http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14se ... -debug.pet

If you want everything for some odd reason, 149MB pet
http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14se ... 6-FULL.pet
