Network autodetect problem

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

Network autodetect problem

#1 Post by IlonDalon »

When I installed PuppyLinux 1.0.7 on my Sony PCG-C1XS, network autodetec feature was not able to determine that I was using a LinkSys PCMCIA card to interface with the network.
After I figured out that "tulip" was the appropriate drivers package (by doing a google search) and manually instructed the network wizard to load "tulip" it finally understood that the connection existed on eth0.
I went through the "help" instructions and after the obligatory reboot all worked as expected.
The whole process took about 4 hours because I first assumed that the appropriate driver package did not come with Puppy (an assumption that turned out to be incorrect.)

Good luck,
ID
