vindows 7 bugs me.
it looks like linux.
but its not
if i dont like the window manager i cant replace it in vindows
in linux i can change window managers
m$do$ shell stinks,bash rocks

as far as i know( never used though)
there are some shells for gui in windows ( a fork of blackbox for example - bb4win)

I use BBLean and it rocks! It's probably the only decent multiple desktop solution for Windows (at least XP, not sure if it'll run on 7).

Chromium OS - boots and gets me online in 7 seconds on my PC. Ofcourse, no desktop apps, only web apps. But, its amazing.

That's awesome. You compiled it yourself then? I know the source is in the wild but it looked like more work than I was willing to do to compile.

I wonder if a full install puppy on SSD would excel.

My Windows XP does. 12 sec into desktop.
