BIG USB mouse problem!!!

#1 Post by Mr. Scientist »

I use an Amitech FreeNote with a USB mouse with scroll wheel, and I just downloaded Puppy(and burned it to a cd) and the pup001 file, wich I put on 'C:\'. Now the boot goes fine, but when I am supposed to enter wether the mouse is a serial, ps\2 or usb mouse, I enter "usb". Then I should specify if it has a scroll wheel, where I enter "y". Then, the Puppy Desktop opens fine, but now I can only move the mouse up and down, and to the right if I hold down a mouse button. How do I fix this, so I can get around in Puppy Linux?
(PS: I read some posts in the old Puppy forum, but it didn't help me.)

If it's any consolation, you're not the only one. See here.

It sounds like your mouse may be using a non-standard mousing protocol. This may be very bad news. Do you have to install some kind of software to make it work in windows?

The good news is that you can usually pick up a decent mouse for $5, if you look in the right places.
