Thanks.
For a minute there, I thought it could have been "Clueless Longuish Interval"
(Like when your date doesn't show up!)

Subject description: dpup.org drops connection every 50secs |
|
Not sure if there's somewhere better to post this, but .....
thought I'd download the retro version, but the dpup.org server is breaking the
connection every 50 to 60 secs as regular as clockwork
Is this a design feature
I'm on dialup, download will take about 8 hrs, so that makes for
around 500 reconnection attempts by poor ol' wget
It's lucky I'm a patient sort of guy .......

Actually I think it is, but I never had it break connections every minute, for me it's like every 30-40 meg.

The "2.1 mod_bwlimited" does that I guess.

Yes, bandwidth limiting is very dialup unfriendly...sorry, but until I win the Lottery or find a more economical host for my domains...that's how it is...In the very near future, Dpup will be on the official ibiblio site, but unfortunately, that does not suffer the limiting problem, but is far slower...We'll get there in the end.

musher0; CLI = Command Line Interface.
I`m eagerly awaiting the new Dpup also, 482 is awsome!
I haven`t had a Puppy so stable for a very long time.
I have run it literally for days and days without any problem at all.

That's how it was all morning, though no sooner had I posted here
than it changed to about every 10 mins now. Is it governed by
current traffic?
Only 3 more hours to go .......
But I'm sure it will be well worth this wait!

Shep, yes..the bandwidth limiting is governed by the number of users logged in at the time...it endevours to give everyone a fair slice...it's obviously not that good at it....especially when low speed dialup logins are competing with high speed logins.

Everything seems fine here so far, I haven't rebooted yet though, running clean frugal install.
Numlock was NOT on by default here.
Abiword seems good, drec works, also tested a bit gimp 2.6.6 package so far works smooth, but I'm gonna test it more.
Control Panel and first wizard also better.
SSH & remote clients are also nice additions.
Mplayer still starts below taskbar though.
Ayttm crashes when trying to connect to msn account but I expected that, that's ayttm's problem.
Um, not sure how smart it is but should we ditch ayttm?
It crashes on amsn and I doubt it works with current yahoo messenger either. Maybe just put xchat in instead? Or even pidgin but I know that's a lot of fat on already very greasy dpup

I just installed Dpup482-beta5 and ran the 1st install script and selected wbar, numlock on, locale, and then set up my internet connection.
When I rebooted, the pupsave was created.
But the wbar setting was not retained and I had to run the 1st install script again.
I have yet to see if that setting is retained this time.
Also, I tried installing the Floppy Formatter Pet that had the script that was written by the creator of ufiformat.
It failed on writing a dos file system to the disk.
So I used a fall back to a never released script that I had created that seems to work with Dpup.
For anyone that wants to try it, it is attached.
