if you want to do it yourself i'll understand, but i'm re-writting tabble to use the icons for launching as well as buttons, like my original pascal control panel...i'll send you the source when i'm finished if you like.(it will also include tooltip enablement...

Cheers
Ok you twisted my arm  I would be more than happy to have the sources with clickable icons for software launchers :) and any other goodies you add to it :)
Thanks Gposil

Bonjour à tous,
@ gposil and ttuuxxx
I would like to create an edition of Tabbles (Control Panel) translated into French for Toutou Linux 4.31.
I edited the file /root/.tabble for translate tabs and text utilities, but I also want to translate texts of options and change the title (Tableau de Contrôle).
Is there a translation file .po? Or should I recompile? And if so how?
Thanks in advance.
Cordialement ;)

Excuse my ignorance, I installed to HDD, it does not seem to ask me to save session when I shut down?

Hi,

Made a better Test for 214X-RC1.

All 214X references are OK, Puppy Remaster works, Shutdown script can personalize pup_save name (ttuuxxx you already updated the shutdown script, I had a 214X SFS in HDD from previous test :(, then I saw stuff from 214X16, sorry for the misunderstanding ), pup_save Resize is working fine, I can use BootManager with up to 8 SFS files :).

Although I had some problems with Xvesa. I never used Xvesa before but after a small Xwindow crash with an application I had to use it. In Xvesa I don´t have partition icons on desktop, Prompt to X, Shutdown and Reboot don´t work, those options only restarts Xwindow.... Anybody else with Xvesa problems?.

From Xorg side no problems found and everything workin really fine.

New 214X Control Panel Configuration

#2446 Post by clarf »

Hi,

I attach a new configuration file for 214x Control Panel. I followed some Dave´s suggestions:

- Added Date item.
- Added Country settings (includes locale and keyboard settings)
- Moved HotPup to Drives.

Any comment is welcome.

Hello :)!

R vs X

There are a few more instances in the scripts where an R should be substituted by an X, I hadn't found them all when I reported on this earlier   :P.

The R:s appear on the form of pup_*R.sfs, or similar, in (I think) the installer scripts (at least).

I just happened to see it when checking if the R-X fix was implemented, haven't checked thoroughly, though - yesterday I was working from 9 AM till 2 AM  , and I'm at it again today.

Cheers :)/

clarf, on 214x i have never been able to use xorg b/c is crashes in firefox everytime, so I always have to use xvesa and i have always had the issues you mentioned. when i load a new 214X version I boot up in xorg b/c xvesa won't shutdown but don't go on the internet b/c firefox will freeze my computer. so... as mentioned, i boot in xorg shutdown, create a save file, boot back up, switch to xvesa, restart X and then I am good to go. thats my routine but since you asked yes, i have the same issues initially.

Thanks for the report sinc, good to know I´m not the only one, because I was thinking in a hardware issue. Should track down the real problem...

Edit: In shutdown and reboot scripts there`s a "killall X" command.

When I use this command with Xorg puppy exits to terminal but it doesn`t work with Xvesa.

X is a simlynk to Xvesa or Xorg its depends from xorgwizard configuration, I think "killall X" really terminates Xorg or Xvesa executable. Could it be fixed using other Xvesa executable file?, the actual Xvesa file can`t be killed???.

Is there vlc 0.86 compatible with the 2.14XX ? I need it because of its subtitles handling. My smallest son is able to navigate avi and subtitles from the hard disk using vlc.
I have 2.14V16 testing in my laptop. And I am thinking to put 2.14 the fourth Puppy for my son.

At finnish school the whole school has linux terminals just installed. Web school-environment is now aveilable with browser.
The computer tearcher visited my son`s class and asked who knows what linux is. My son answered: "I have Puppy Linux as operating system".

So I will continue educating my son with good Puppys.

With best regards

Tried using fileroller and Xarchiver in 214RC but nothing shows up extracted.
What am I doing wrong?

Now that gets me totally and utterly confused. I thought all the good work you guys had done meant we could have up to 20? sfs files.

Hi Guys as 2.14X and gtk1 goes, well it can use gtk1 apps, but compiling them has always been a bit of a issue, So I recompiled Gtk1 and it works fine for compiling. These packages contain the all the files including devs and locals, I only removed the docs and man packages. a basic Xmms also is the same since its used by a lot of music apps, dev files should be included.

For gtk1 you'll need the following 3 files
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14 ... 0-i386.pet
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14 ... 0-i386.pet
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14 ... 0-i386.pet

you can test it either with Xmms
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14 ... 1-i386.pet
or this really nice 84kb image viewer with some nice features.
http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14 ... 7-i386.pet
