Snes9x 1.42 - Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator

#1 Post by Jeff2 »

My first dotpup can be found here

http://www.mytempdir.com/433465

It's another Snes emulator, like zsnes.
There is a frontend included and a few freeware games to get you started.

Please let me know any errors or problems.

Regards
Jeff.

Could you give a bit more description of what it is, why anyone would want to use it? Thanks. :)

it's a rpm repackage from http://www.snes9x.com/

from http://www.snes9x.com/

nes9x is a portable, freeware Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator. It basically allows you to play most games designed for the SNES and Super Famicom Nintendo game systems on your PC or Workstation; which includes some real gems that were only ever released in Japan.

Anyone interested in http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.p ... ight=zsnes (zsnes) might want/need an alternative.

Regards,
Jeff.

Already have ZSNES and it required MPlayer to become fully functional. Downloaded your dotpup, SNES, but it will not play. What requisite libraries or programs are required? Hopefully, SNES will allow the use of my Thrustmaster gamepad (which unfortunately I can't get ZSNES to accept).

Thanks Jeff.

Can you let us know what puppy version you are using.

Can you navigate to usr/local/snes9x-1.42 directory

and open a xterm here and type

ldd snes9x
ldd snes9express142

to see if all libraries are present.

The frontend needs a lot of libraries..

Jeff

I installed the znes super nintendo emulator without MPlayer on my hard drive installed Puppy 1.0.6 and it runs and sounds fantastic The DosBox Dos emulator runs games really well too, also with sound.

If anyone is interested in a gameboy emulator suitable for Puppy, KiGB works well. The link is http://kigb.emuunlim.com/ Unfortunately, I can't get the sound to work but the games play perfectly. If anyone can make sound work, please let me know. Note if you install KiGB, make sure you create the required symbolic link as stated in the doc files. I didn't and KiGB would not work until I did.

The precompiled VisualBoyAdvance emulator (for GameBoy Advance games) works perfectly in puppy4. Just extract and drag and drop your rom! Even the sound works :)

I used version 1.7.1
