KompoZer-0.7.10 - Html editor

#1 Post by Previously known as Guest »

KompoZer 0.7.10 released September 01, 2007
http://www.kompozer.net/
Announcement: KompoZer 0.7.10

Uninstall 0.77 first!
I've configured this to install to kompozer directory without version number so future updates will simply overwrite.

9.6MB
kompozer-0.7.10.pup

Something strange happened when I clicked the above link. When I saw the size of this .pup, I decided not to download it, so closed the little download window. This caused Opera ( in eBoxPup) to freeze and then, the screen was filled with funny signs and symbols. I couldn't close Opera, nor reboot Puppy, the only way out was a hard shutdown.

This looked suspiciously like some kind of virus has sneaked in. Or am I still traumatized by my Windows past?

I tried to reproduce this and saw there's a process running in the background, as soon as the download window is opened. I quickly closed the window and Opera was still alive and well.

This could of course be some error in my machine, but I thought it would be safest to send this post, just to be sure.

It is the vestiges of being virused by Redmond . . .
Trauma..

What happened is Opera tried to download the data as a text file (must have happenned when you cancelled.) Had it happen several times to me in many browsers. Nothing to worry about - but best to report :)

You are safe

I've had similar happen in Opera before. I'm not sure of eBoxPups specifics, I should have mentioned that it's not a small download. 9485Kb .pup, 9565Kb extracted & 31Mb installed.

Yes, Komposer is huge. I just finished compiling it for Grafpup and was amazed at how the bloat crept in.

The WYSIWYG HTML editor (Composer is in Puppy - look under tools in Seamonkey) that became Linspires NVU and is now used in Komposer, MAY (big may) find its way back into Seamonkey, where it can be shrunk as the code libraries it needs are partly available.

Komposer needs an image mapper, other than that it is excellent and despite the size that Nathan mentions, I find with xaralx, I can knock a site together quite easily

for eg.

With a bit of Gimpshop I could probably round off some of those images . . .

On the whole I prefer to do pages in wiki format
http://tmxxine.com/www/wikka.php?wakka=TopTips

talking of reality . . . how is Grafpup coming along?
It has a lot of fans. I am one of them. Perhaps if not yet close to a release a progress report in another thread?

:)

Progress reports are posted almost daily at http://grafpup.com/news/. I'm trying to get the first alpha snapshot out in about a week, but time is always short. 90% of the applications are compiled, although the packaging needs some work. Some scripts need readjusted pertaining to the multi-user environment (was working, currently broken again), and package management needs a bit more tweaking.

Thanks for asking :P
