how can I get terminal (RXVT) to display black background/white text please?

rxvt -bg black -fg white

from command line or script.

You can also edit the desktop file for rxvt located in /usr/share/applications. Open it with a text editor find the line exec=rxvt and add -bg black -fg white.

Thanks. In the end, I edited /root/.Xdefaults. I wish I had known I could pass arguments via the .desktop file. Useful tip thanks.

With the number of continued anti-bling posts, this will probably continue to be downloaded a lot.

I'm using it myself. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

1. If I right click Clipboard, and select Edit, then the icons of systray are displaced to just left of the center of the bottom panel, and there is a blank white space on the panel occupying the entire right half of the bottom panel (except for the 24-hr clock). This white blank space is inoperable: I cannot move it, remove it, or restore the bottom panel/systray to original condition. So after I try to edit Clipboard, half of the panel becomes inaccessible, presumably occupied by Clipboard.

2. Puppy Package Manager freezes and is inoperable. I was trying to find Gaim/Pidgin.

3. When typing text in meebo, the cursor disappears. (The cursor is the blinking vertical bar.)

So there is a huge white bar (Clipboard) occupying the entire right side of panel which seems to be inoperable--cant drag it, cant right-click it--all because i clicked on Clipboard. I was wondering why this program was put here by default, how to use it, and how to remove it.

To remove parcellite icon from tray I edited .jwmrc-tray file like this:
/root/.jwmrc-tray [it's hidden file]
Quote:

</Swallow>
<Swallow name="freememapplet">
freememappletdelayed
</Swallow>
#<Swallow name="parcellite">
#parcellitedelayed
#</Swallow>

<Swallow name="asapm">
asapmshell -u 4 -status PaleGreen3 -green PaleGreen3
</Swallow>

After editting the parcellite is steel available in
Menu/Desktop/Parcellite-clipboard-manager

Hi Daves just use the default 4.2, I really didn't add anything worth removing thats isn't in it, hmmmm I think the only added application was xfburn.

I have posted a BCI-hinting-enabled libfreetype PET package for ttuuxxx's no-bling 4.20 in my thread at
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=44882
Here's a screenshot.
This is on a CRT monitor. A TFT or LCD or laptop will look sharper.
This is with Microsoft Core Webfonts and the full DejaVu set installed, also from that thread. "Allow webpage to use other fonts" is checked under Edit Appearance Fonts in Seamonkey.

AFAIK ttuuxxx only used the regular 2.6.25.16 kernel when he built this release.

Just installed this one (with a full install to my hard drive) and I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread before now to thank ttuuxxx for it, so I will now - thanks ttuuxxx! It remains one of the very best Puppies out there IMO, especially since it can now use files from the 412 Collection site to bring its usability up to date.
