Karmic Ubuntu upup-450 full drivers SCSI 2.6.30.5 smp
Well It took me a few days to get the packages straight etc and I'm currently working XO OLPC project and this could be the base for it, We'll see how the testing of this base goes. If all works nicely then I'll start to compile a kernel for XO. I really wanted something solid for it.
What I'm figuring is that I could make 2 versions one with a XO kernel and One for mainstream, This release is a traditional one, good for desktop/laptops etc.

Hi ttuuxxx
Well karmic upup booted ok on my Athlon 2100+ but no xorg .. I think it was the same with BK's snapshot... there is a fix, guess I'll need to dig iaround for it... xvesa no good on widescreen,
Something weird... I went to log in here and since I've been using dpup just instinctively started banging the number keypad and it worked .. but no numlock LED...555555555.. in fact just testing now the LED is acting real weird...555 (LED on) 555555 (LED off)555555555555 um, numlock can't be switced off... so K Upup is not compatible with a Micro$oft keyboard
Ok, more later
Cheers

hmmm I'll have to look into the keyboard setup I guess. Are you going to keep this copy around so if I make a couple keyboard fixes you could try them ?

I did a save back to CDRW, which worked incidentally . So yes, I'll keep it handy.
I did all my beta testing of 4.2 and 4.3 on CD savebacks.
Cheers

It's a Microsoft Wired Keyboard Model No- RT2300
Can't get xorg to work, raedon 9200 pro, 128MB, looks like I need drivers, although xorg reports everything as true and correct.

ttuuxxx,
I've had some of the same problems mentioned above, however, Barry's Karmic upup had the same three problems below and were easily corrected.
1. On the Nvidia issue someone suggested to run the test mode instead of xorg or xvesa and if the test failed to edit the driver to read "nv". It worked on Barry's version and yours also.
2. Next problem was that alsaconf would not work. The solution there was to copy the alsaconf and mktemp files from Barry's upup476 which worked on Barry's and your version.
3. Next problem was that CUPS would not work, the solution to both was to install the cups-1.3.10-1uj.pet from the woof repository.
4. The last problem I've noticed hasn't been solved and was not a problem with Barry's version. Seamonkey crashed unexpected even on the forum site. That didn't bother me since I never use Seamonkey and I installed your new Firefox 3.5.5 that you posted on the dpup topic. At first, it appeared to work fine, however, it has crashed a number of times also on the forum site, nothing exotic.
Still checking it out, and I'm sure that I'll discover some exciting new features you've added, but haven't run across them yet.
Cheers,
Jim

Installed on my P3 test box w/ Intel i810 graphics ....no problem.
I can confirm the browser crashing problem......both SeaMonkey and PuppyBrowser repeatedly crashed to the point of being unusable. Downloaded Skipstone, same problem.
Now posting from Opera 10 and it appears to be stable.
When I first attempted to install, Upup 4.50 cd wouldn't boot., would begin booting the kernel and then "boot error".I knew the disc was good having tried it on other computers so I swapped optical drives and end of problem. Luckily this test desktop uses hot swappable laptop optical drives so it was no big deal to swap out the cd drive for a dvd drive. The original cd drive is good, it just doesn't like Upup I guess.
Anyway...back to testing....
