Skiing season in Full Swing. Where's Tuxracer? |
|
Don't visit this kennel very often, and certainly not to complain! Hardly ever play games. But, with downhill racing filling our w/e screens in the N Hemisphere, one has to wonder where the FH is Tuxracer?!
There were commercial issues originally, but those seem to have been overcome? It was one of the first to appear so it can't consume mountains of code? An even earlier one worth including is the ping-pong thing. Even less code? The graphics and animation on both of these was most acceptable considering their age.
Suppose all the flight sims are too bloated to run in Puppy on older machines? Never did manage to d/l Flight Gear with DUN.

Don't add insult to injury Here in SW Ontario we've had the warmest January on record for the last 100 years. Right now there isn't even a little patch of snow in my backyard.
The little skihill around here is operating on 100% man-made snow. It's been raining so I haven't felt like going, It must be like a cold water park.
But think of it, you may be right, maybe the solution is to dream playing tux racer.
Those Europeans stole our snow!!!!

I don't really miss the cold weather, however I'mnever gonna get a day off from school unless it snows Wishful thinking I suppose.
Back to Tuxracer though, I have never gotten it to run in Puppy with a few attempts. I'm not good at sorting out dependencies though. Tuxracer would be a great game for Puppy.

You certainly will need 3D-accelleration, see this thread:

Well, I discover that Tuxracer isn't being developed any longer, has been renamed planet penguin-racer and the earliest versions didn't need 3D, although the later versions that claim to need 3D run brilliantly without it!
As Rhino points out, it would be ideal for Puppy, but I cannot offer any assistance in the SW department.
The other item I alluded to is called Tuxpuck - very early, very basic and a port from some arcane 8-bit device. Again, should be excellent for Puppy.
Barry and the gurus - please consider.

PS. Sorry to hear about your snow dirth, rar. As you've read, there have been disasters in Germany and Poland with buildings collapse. You are welcome to as much as you can take. I hate cold; wish they'd tow this little island down to the Carribean.
