btw I get a page full of ???? when I go to Chinese websites, sometimes

changing the character encoding [in Firepup] helps occasionally, so maybe it is a font thing?....see my links

I didn't realise that you were using the Wine version of Express Scribe.

In that case, I can throw a little light on the matter. I'll send you a pm on the Ubuntu forums.

OK, I think I've finally figured this one out. I've posted my conclusions on the wiki at http://puppylinux.org/wikka/MakeScimWorkWithJavaAndTerminal Please test it out and tell me where it needs to be improved.

m17n-contrib-1.1.10-i486.pet has been uploaded to http://www.puppylinux.ca/members/Irihapeti (user=puppy, password=linux)

This is installed as an add-on to scim-m17n and gives a number of new input methods. They are mostly for Indic languages, but there are also a few other interesting options; a full list (taken from the icon names) is attached.

Irihapeti.
I would like to set up scim on Puppy431 using SFS files.

Would you mind summarizing the above 41 pages by giving me lists of the .pets necessary for:
1.) A minimal install with no specific languages
2.) Files necessary to add to #1 to make it optimal, still without languages.
3.)The files required to adapt the above to one language. (your choice)

It may take me a day or so. I've discovered some dependency problems with one of my packages and I want to resolve this first.

Name change is confusing. i thought that was under Irihapeti's and I now have found the files are under scim folder.

Anyway, Thank you, Eric. And what do you mean by "maintainer"?

Hosting those SCIM files or keeping track of them?

If it means just hosting them and the total file size isn'nt much, then I am willing to host them, providing you give me the web page to show.

Hi puppyiso,

Maintainer means someone to update and add new files to Scim as needed.
Irihapeti has taken a break from Puppy to pursue other interests for the time being.
I think the scim files are fine as they are now but in the future there may be a need to tweak scim to a new release or add functions.
