import from iceweasel 3 (debian)

#1 Post by slackfan »

Hi

My wife did see the new 4.3-Puppy and would like to join again. But she is afraid to loose her bookmarks and history from icewaesel.

As puppy can open the debian partition, we can access to /home/she and get the files and copy them into the adequate dir from /root but we don't know which files are to copy where and if it would work with seamonkey version 1. to avoid to install firefox 3. or seamonkey version 2 beta

what would you do in this situation?

IceWeasel 3 is actually Firefox 3, so if you wanted to copy your bookmarks and history to a FF3 setup on Puppy, the easiest thing to do would be to copy the entire profile directory and overwrite the profile directory created for the Puppy FF installation.

However, Mozilla changed the way bookmarks (not sure about the history files) are handled in Firefox 3, so they can't be easily imported to SeaMonkey or Firefox 2 or earlier. If you want to import your bookmarks from IceWeasel 3 to SeaMonkey, you'll have to export them from IceWeasel as a standard bookmarks.html file, and have SeaMonkey import that.
