ca and asia renewed

#1 Post by Caneri »

Hi All,

I have pointed puppylinux.ca to the puppylinux.asia shared account.

I'm still locked out of the VPS and can't access any files from that server.

This may be a sign of disaster but I'm still hoping things can be fixed.

I advise any one with files on the old puppylinux.ca VPS server to get them as soon as I get access. (I'll announce the new IP here).

The account that holds puppylinux.asia will not be able to handle both domains so if needed I will stop hosting some of the big puplets and focus on developers only.

I need a few directories to be hosted on another server if anyone can do this. When I get access can someone mirror these directories as follows (I'll add urls as I think of them)

http://puppylinux.ca/vintage

Sorry for the mess. It appears out of my control...rats!

Hi Eric

I thought something was amiss, my folder is gone. Doesn't matter, most of it is getting old now and newer stuff coming through. Probably have all of it locally anyway, just dig out some backups. :)

Hope you get the issues sorted.

Hi Sigmund,Mick,

I advise anyone with an ftp account for .asia to update their files there. This is why I advised developers to keep a backup as this is turning into a disaster.
I figure the VPS is toast now as I get no response from them.

If I get access to the VPS I'll post it here for anyone that can grab files to host.

We've spend a huge amount of time building the server for puppylinux.ca and it's very upsetting to see it lost like this.(if it is indeed lost..still some hope).

The puppylinux.asia account will be renewed now as I will not need to pay anymore money to the VPS service. This being said the shared account will be much smaller and most likely will not make it through each months bandwidth allotments.

There is no other hosting service that will take me on due to high usage but I'll try to find something that has a reasonable cost for the size.

Stay tuned,
Eric

Good news today.

I have renewed the puppylinux.asia shared account for another year.
They gave me a small discount on the hosting fees and because I no longer will pay the VPS charges I figure it will give y'all more time.

To all ftp account holders....give 'er 'ell as this account is good until December 2 2010.

Donations welcome.
Eric

PS this account has 3tb/month with 300gb drive space but it still will not handle what I was running before so we will just have to do the best we can with it.

There are many files that are on the broken server that held puppylinux.ca that are not on the current production server.

Would anyone that has files that are not on the current working puppylinux.ca and that would like them brought into the current account please post here so we can point our efforts to those files and not spend days trying to get stale files...TY
Your help would be appreciated.
Eric

PS Webserver Puppy needs to be posted to this new account along with many others. Let me know here please.

@MU,
puppyfiles.ca is also good until Dec 2 2010 so you can do your mirroring there if you still need it...Eric

fine, thanks :)
At moment it is nice to have, and I keep it up to date.
But it is not urgent, so if you need to kick it, it would not be a desaster.

Thanks for all your efforts, Eric!

Well I finally have access to the old puppylinux.ca server
It is now here http://69.174.102.38/

I suggest that anyone that wants files off this server to get them whilst they can and poste haste!!
My internet speeds do not allow a full backup here at home so I must rely on others to do the dirty deed.

The first set of files I want are here http://69.174.102.38/puppyfiles/vintage/
and need to be mirrored on other servers if possible.

Sorry for the mess but we have another chance to at least retrieve something out of the disaster.

Eric

EDIT:
Also, please post requests on this thread for specific files that anyone wants transfered to the current working puppylinux.ca/asia. and I'll see what can be done to get them moved.

No problem eric I have about 1TB free space on my local Hdd and a 80GB limit a month, but the only issue I have is that I don't have the keys to download folders, hmmm I tried Pmirrorget and it crashed. plus gftp and filezilla both don't work as anonymous user. I'll keep trying.

Cool!!..ty

We only need a few files as some ftp users already updated their files on the .asia account.

@ALL,
Please post here for files you want moved onto the working server for puppylinux.ca and .asia.
