TMSiaB v2.0 ( Trackmania Server in a Box v2.0 )

#1 Post by XRMerlin »

Let me introduce you "Trackmania Server in a Box v2.0" short: "TMSiaB v2.0"

Image

TMSiaB ist based on Webserverpuppy ( XAMPP-Edition ).

Following changes were made:

- Installed XFCE
- Installed WBAR
- Installed Dedicated Server for the Games
+Trackmania United Forever
+Trackmania Nations Forever
+Trackmania Original
+Trackmania Nations
+Trackmania Sunrise
- Installed several Plugins for TM
- Installed several Databases in MySQL
- Developed several GTK-Dialog-Scripts to configure and administer the hole thing.

From the Page ( http://tmsiab.tmu-xrated.de ) :

If you've read anything at all about Dedicated Gameserver in Trackmania, you'll probably know at least two things:

Dedicated Server are the most exciting way to play the game,
Dedicated Server can be really, I mean really, complicated to configure.

TMSiaB v2.0 is set to change the bad habit ... TMSiaB is different from the normal!. For a start, it's not complicated. TMSiaB has been developed for the masses. It´s easy to start, install, administer and reliable. TMSiaB doesn't even require any knowledge about Linux, coding, data access rights, PHP, MySQL or all the other funny stuff needed to establish a Dedicated Server. Equipped with a Idiotproof Userinterface ( you can´t do anything wrong ) and once it's up and running you will get what you deserve: Nothing but FUN ^^

TM Server in a Box v2.0 features:
- Bootable Linux-CD based on PuppyLinux
- XFCE GUI
- Brandnew Idiotproof Userinterface
- Dedicated Server for Trackmania United Forever
- Dedicated Server for Trackmania Nations Forever
- Dedicated Server for Trackmania Nations
- Dedicated Server for Trackmania Sunrise
- Dedicated Server for Trackmania Original
- Mistral Aseco 8.1 ( TMUF, TMNF )
- [LIVE] ( TMUF, TMNF )
- Xymph´s ASECO/RASP 0.89 for TMN, TMS, TMO
- Apache Webserver
- MySQL
- PHP
- Pearl

Extensive Administration:
- remoteCP4 (Webinterface for TMUF, TMNF to control the Dedicated Server )
- remoteCP3 ( Webinterface for TMO, TMN, TMS to control the Dedicated Server )
- In-Game-Control the Dedicated Server via ASECO or [LIVE]

A little Video to explain, what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swNCq80r ... re=related

Which means:

Insert the Live-CD in a PC, start it, configure the IP, klick at the "TMSIAB-Icon" in the wbar, fill in the desired data for the server, klick "OK" and the Server will start.
Everyone connected to TM will be able to join the server and drive together.

Info: TMUF is a "free-for-all-game" - you can download, install and play it for FREE ( Should be NO ADVERTISEMENT!!!! )

TrackMania is a series of arcade racing games for Windows and Nintendo DS, which include stunting with cars, track-building, elements from puzzle games, as well as elements testing the players' dexterity. It was developed by the French team Nadeo for the PC. Instead of following the usual trend of choosing a set car and track for playing in the game, the TrackMania games allow the player to create their own tracks using a "Block" process in the spirit of the 1985 game Racing Destruction Set and the 1990 Brøderbund release, Stunts.

In contrast with most other racing games, the TrackMania series lets the player race a track as many times as they want, until time runs out. They can choose to respawn at any time possible, due to landing upside down, going off the track or because the start did not go optimally. Although in multiplayer games multiple cars race on the same track, they cannot actually collide or otherwise influence each other.

There are more than 6 million registred Accounts worldwide :D

And: It´s funny

TMSiaB v2.0 is only to establish a Dedicated Server <-> The game "TM" is running under Windows!

Just like the old apt quotation:

"Linux is for networking - Mac is for working - Windows is for solitaire" :D

Guidelines ?

#2 Post by nancy reagan »

Hi

I gather this is something very advanced, especially for puppy gamers (did you post in "additional software > games" ?).

However being a non gamer but somebody who would like to surprise her nephew, who is not very tweakerish either, I would be very pleased if you could give some guidelinex to be able start a game..

Yes you've made a video, however being bad sighted I can't read the instructions there.

Would be all too happy, and, my nephew. if you could write out some basic introduction lines ?

Thank you so much.

Hi
Hi :)

Hmmm... not yet - but i will do :)

It´s not complicated...

TM is a Windows-Game. Just give www.google.de a try for "Trackmania Nations Forever" und you will get a Downloadlink.

The rest is simple: Download, install, start it -> Have fun!

The Game will connect to the Internet and a few moments later, you are able to join a Dedicated Server in your country. ( There are MANY MANY Server in each Country :D )

TMSiaB is to create a Dedicated Server for the Game - For a "normal" player there is no need to do this.

Sorry your answer does not bring me anywhere.

I should google.de ? and then "download": WHAT ?

I run your iso but fail to login, click here and there msg like "no records no players etc.

Apparaently you agree it is not -that- simple, otherwise you did not need your youtube explananation (which I cannot read badsightedness.)

1.
Do not you have the concept left with which you made your youtube movie ?

For I cannot read the movie because of my badsightedness.

(Downloaded manual from somewhere but does not give a clue to logging in etc. More or less for windows$).

2.
If you do not have the concept of your movie left, could you refer to a manual that tells me "how to login/register" ?

What do you understand by

3.1
"configure your IP" ?

3.1.
"Fill in the desired data for the server" ?

Hope you will help to give me at least a "start".

Sorry, never had a script for the video

To give you a start:

1. Trackmania is a Game based on Client/Server.
2. You need the Client ( the game ) to participate/play
3. If you would like to play, just klick the following link:
http://www.google.com/#hl=de&source=hp& ... 20ce418be6
This will give you several Downloadlinks for "Trackmania Nations Forever". eg: On http://www.trackmania.com you can find a downloadlink.
4. Download it, install it ( under Windows!!! ).
5. Start the Game and the rest is selfexplaining!

You dont need the TMSiaB to play the Game!

TMSiaB is only to create a Dedicated Server!

If you are connecting to the internet with the Game you will automatically "see" MANY Dedicated Server!

Just join (within the Game) a Dedicated Server and play - There is nothing magically behind it.

Here you can find several Videos relating to TM: http://www.tm-tube.com/
Here you can find the main forum of TM: http://www.tm-forum.com
This video of one of my mates shows you every enviroment of TM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZORQJQtI ... annel_page
( Trackmania Nations Forever ( free of charge ) has only one enviroment: The "Stadium" )

This is Trackmania Nations Forever:

This Video shows you, what to expect if you´re "driving":

lol :P You shouldn't worry too much about it :)

I think what he tried to say, is that this iso is not meant for a regular user wanting to "just play", but to people who want to host. ¿Right?

This iso doesn't allow you to play at all. :(.

I haven't been able to track a definition of "host" for you, but I hope this answer is enough.

Cheers! :D

You could have told me right from the start that it was not meant for playing/

Nancy,
Calling it a server was a clue. :)

XRMerlin,
How hard would it be to remove the games and use it as a multisession DVD-based server? Whatever the server was supposed to do would be added to the DVD as a session, along with any configuration changes.

If the multisession DVD is then booted in a non-burner drive when connected to the network, it would be impossible to permanently compromise. Just do a hard reboot (by cycling the power once an hour for instance) and the server would boot back to a pristine configuration.

Add just sufficient RAM to do whatever job is required of the server, and you've got a server that can't be taken over for long.

This would be useful for database servers that are updated infrequently. Encyclopedias, for instance.
