TEENpup 2010 Mini - EeePC extra Pets what's Needed?
Hello Everyone,
TEENpup 2010 mini started as a project for my EeePC 900A when I travel overseas in December. As I use Ethernet I have no idea if the standard Puppy 4.2.1 on which TEENpup 2010 Mini is built works OK with Wireless etc with EeePC's.
This is your chance to get the drivers, keyboard shortcuts etc into the final iso for your EeePC. It's for your benefit not mine. So don't just sit there on your ass let me know.
This version of TEENpup with its compatibility with current Pets will give someone looking for a more complete Apps wise starting point over the standard Puppy to build a great personal OS for themselves.
I expect this will be the most popular TEENpup version I ever released.
Because even though it's a general release for PC's like Puppy, nothing runs sweeter on my EeePC and it will surely win a lot of fans with EeePC's.
You have 1 week to post links to pets because the final iso is close to release.

Hi john this is a small gtkhash package I made up and it has right click hash functions in rox included,
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=20570
you might want to rip apart 214X and take things like the xfburn extras I built into it, Should of packaged it up The extras are rt click functions, to burn iso images, rt click on any Iso and click burn iso and it brings it up already to burn.

Hello Sylvander,
xfe will not be in the iso.
Hello ttuuxxx,
K3B and Digikam plus a large number of other KDE Apps are already in TEENpup 2010 Mini. What I'm after is Pets to make it more usable to EeePC users. The Apps included in TEENpup has been finalized.
Seamonkey has been replaced by Opera 10 final.

Ummmm why such large apps for a small memory/hd pc? aren't eeepc users usually lite, and k3b & kde both take a lot of space and system resources/kills batteries quicker, I would of went the other way, xfburn takes 1/2 the resources as pburn does due to not using gtkdialog, VLC 8.6h takes 1/2+/- the resources as gxine, stuff like that could double the life of a battery, same with a small lite music player, like bmp that would take like 1/3 of the power as gxine. I've been playing with midori tonight, its slower than firefox but takes 1/4 of the resources.john biles wrote:Hello Sylvander,

Then I would look at dialog programs, like petget, the one I ripped apart for 2.14X takes about 1/3 of viewing area as the default one, and it came from series 5 The only thing when it searches for deps, it gives yo a long list, would like to see it with scrollbars.
Lots of gtk puppy scripts are too large viewing windows.
something like choice pup could be good with extra sfs, say one for kde apps, one for qt apps, one for gnome, one for games, etc

Hi John
Really pleased to hear TEENpup 2010 mini is nearly ready - and fantastic to hear that Opera10 is in - brilliant.
If you used the std 4.2.1 kernel (2.6.25.16) then the wifi driver for your EeePc is in a thread by tempestuous (Additional Software - extra drivers).
If you use a 701SD with the earlier celeron M 900MHz processor then you want (rtl8187se-coffelius0.4-k2.6.25.16.pet).
I used a puppy with a later kernel on my 900a which had the N270 atom processor, 'cos I could not work out what to use with k2.6.25.16 on that machine.
(Don't have it any more - gave it to my nephew in the Philippines - superb machine)
If you are able to include the wifi drivers so that they work OTB - that would be fantastic.
Most of what's in that thread is over my head but I'm sure you will have a better understanding of what is being discussed.
Whatever the outcome John - I just know that your new TEENpup is going to be a winner.
Very best regards and thank you for everything you do to make our Puppy's better.

Hello ttuuxxx,
I love KDE3 Apps what can I say. As TEENpup 2010 Mini is a general purpose OS which happens to run fine on 1024 x 600 screen EeePC's or at least my 900A, I just wanted to make sure wireless worked for those who need it. In relation to K3B, as the EeePC doesn't have an internal DVD Drive, I don't think this would be to much of a problem as most EeePC Users aren't going to be using K3B while their away from home. To be honest I never thought about the Battery usage of one App against another, Interesting? I just want what I not someone else might think is the best App for the Job.
I think you could be on to a winner if you took all the knowledge you have and create one sweet lean Puppy version designed just for the EeePC.
Hello Ray MK,
I go though that thread and see what I can find. It's a small world as the place I'm going to in December is the Philippines where my wife came from. Never been there found the old girl in Australia. She's wanted to show me where she came from since I married her in 2000.

Hi John
Thats remarkable - 'cos I met my wife (also Philipino) here in the UK and our recent visit to
PH was for very similar reasons (also my 1st visit).
December is a good time to go - was too hot for me in June/July - hope you have a nice trip.
Lots of very old computers out there - mostly on dial-up - so if your going to play Puppy
while you are there - a selection of lean/mean/fast puppy's on CD and USB will be useful as
many do not have enough ram(typically 64mb to 96mb, sometimes 128mb).
If you intend to take your 900a (and it has the later N270 proc. and wifi chip) BK's latest
4.3 beta2 k2.6.30.5 would be a good choice to have on a bootable USB and even better on a
bootable SD card in your machine.
As would any of the later kernel'd SMP enabled Puppy's (if your machine has the later N270
proc. which BTW is dual core, and wifi chip).
If you have an earlier M900MHz proc. and wifi - then TEENpup 2010 mini with the k2.6.25.16
(or any 2.6.25.16 puppy - used with (rtl8187se-coffelius0.4-k2.6.25.16.pet) will do the job.
Looking forward to trying TEENpup 2010 mini on my 701SD which has the earlier proc. and
wifi chip above. I'm sure many others are also anxiously waiting - the download wires will be
melting.
Thanks again John for all you do - very best regards - Ray.

i liked Teenpup2009 even though the wireless wouldn't work on my machine. that shouldn't be a prob if your using 4.2.1 though.
what i would like to see though is possibly a .sfs addon or two to expand teenpup into a full distro. one thing i would like is possibly Gnome Desktop. I posted this in my own post, but well it never hurts to mention it. I have had a bit of success in moving a few of teenpup2009's programs into 4.2.1 "wholecloth"
though.
also just a thought how about making the .sfs available as a conversion for base 4.1.2 Puppy as well as the full ISO
