No Blank Screen 1.0

#1 Post by trio »

This is also asked by many new users, so better give them an easy answer.

Thanks

Menu Entry under desktop group
- when activated means: NO BLANK SCREEN and screen saver, and will be that way for every boot
- when deactivated means: Normal - Screen saver & blank screen (actually it is power saving feature)

Why is this necessary? I don't have a screensaver/blanking screen during video playback but it will blank when video is not playing.

I know there was an error in the gxine startup script (gxineshell) back in the Puppy 2.1x days where it would turn the screensaver off but not back on again, however, surely that has been fixed by now. If you use Smplayer/mplayer for videos then it has the option built in.

well., you maybe only watch videos with gxine or mplayer, some of us also watch youtube and other live streams like watch-movies.net , also I don't want the computer going blank when downloading big files for hours..

Fair enough, that never occurred to me. I guess I don't watch anything longer than 5 minutes on youtube so I never noticed the issue.

Hello,
I just found NoBlankScreen on the forum Lucid525 (thank you bigpup).

Modest contribution with a localized version (French-English method shinobar/mu) of trio script.
