Subject description: reconfigure WiFi each log-on

I am most impressed with Puppy 4.3 beta and am grateful to the kind seeder, who kept the torrent open until Puppy was downloaded. "Superpuppy" (I do like the default desktop) found my wireless router, and configuration went smoothly. Unlike when I used an ADSL eth0 connection previously, puppy does not save the WiFi configuration (even when using desktop "Save". Any easy way around the problem?
Cheers

Hi septu I am happy to see you are having a go with
the PUPPY Linux. I have a few machine with various versions
of PUPPY and have great fun with them, you will find that also.

Regarding your WiFi, my wife's machine is using wifi back to my
cable modem and back to the wireless unit. Her machine has v4.2.1
and stores setup ok, so I don't know with v4.3 beta, I will slip in
a live cd and check it out. With adsl I think you get a new ip every
start up. I use a fixed ip to the wireless unit.

May not be of much help, but it works for me.

Cheers Tui

Thanks Tui,
You are right. My ADSL connection uses DHCP, while my WiFi uses the ip address of the router, i.e. the configurations look OK. Several other Linux distros do save the WiFi configurations to next log on. Will wait and see if the problem lies with my beta version of Puppy, or possibly with my not yet standard protocol N (as distinct from G) router.
Cheers

This is a problem with 4.2.1 on my machine too. Version 4.0 worked great, but I felt that 4.2 had enough improvements to make the upgrade.

I'd love to see a fix for it, but I haven't yet. It saves the setup, just doesn't connect. I right click on the connect icon and select autoconnect. Not a big deal but something that needs to be dealt with at some point.

I did have this problem, but I tracked it down to my having started with WEP security, then switching to WPA. I solved the problem, I think, by deleting the WEP config file.
