Most people use the hardware controls on their monitor.
I don't know if this still works.
I don't think 4.x versions of puppy include tkgamma, although you should still be able to install it or something similar.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

puppy 4 does not include xgamma...a saving of 6.5k...wow

so I will attach it..put in say /usr/bin

in a teminal
xgamma
shows current setting

Code: Select all

xgamma -gamma 1.2
ups the brightness...1.0 is default
add to /root/.xinitrc to apply each boot

mike

ps only works if using xorg

It doesn't work on a lot of on-board video cards even if you are using Xorg... which is silly when Windows can control gamma on the same cards :(

It's all a bit silly ..eg I have a flat screen and is too bright even with its own controls set to minimum...and xvesa has no apparant control option...without xgamma puppy would be unuseable on it (or any other linux?)...such a basic need to be lacking is erm...well lost for words
