I tried to view the reply to the topic
"http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=45083" by using the link
referenced below ("http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 168#328168").
I had only the message : "The topic or post you requested does not exist. Click
here to return to the index".
So I can't view the reply made !
Thanks for your help.

Have you installed xorg_xorg_full_dri-7.3.pet?

Hmmm .....

Yes, muggins is right ... You'll need the full xorg driver pet. Be warned, it's huge ..... needs about 100MB free space before installing, 54MB will be used up after installation.

Your xorg logs indicate sis630 which supports dri but don't expect blazing 3d with it.

Kal, Patriot, muggins,
Many thanks for help.
I downloaded puppylinux/pet_packages-4/xorg_xorg_dri-7.3-1.pet. But I don't know how to do : I work with the mode live CD, and the RAM is only 110 M. I never installed with ".pet" files (usually under Ubuntu it is ".deb" files). The Xserver does not work, and I don't know install with the command line !
Could you help me. I apologize for my bad english.

Do you have a pup_save.2fs file? If yes, then just click, the downloaded .pet, to install it. Otherwise, if your running entirely from CD/DVD, then, unless you're running puppy multisession on the CD/DVD, the xorg .pet won't be saved anywhere.

Thanks muggins,
I just used pup_save.2fs file yesterday for the first time, on a flash drive. But when I rebooted it didn't work correctly. I will try again the next time.
How do I do with the line command to install a ".pet", because I have no Xserver, no mouse and I cannot click !!!!!
Thank tou very much.

Maybe you could try xvesa first.
On the x prompt type xorgwizard and select xvesa.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Hello Béèm,
I tried xvesa : in a few seconds it goes out and does'nt work.
I tried also to put 'sis_dri.so' of Thomas Winischlofer in my /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions whithout success...
I have to find and appropriate dri module, or install xorg_xorg_dri-7.3-1.pet,....but i don't know to make this install only whith the command. line.
Many thanks for your help.

Hmmm .....

Someone asks me to have a look at their machine just now. It has sis630 on it ... I'll give it a puppy test run and see how it goes ...

Sorry to hear about this.
I remember there have been discussions about installing a pet from the command line.
Maybe via the puppysearch in my sig and with a search on 'installing pet with cli' or 'installing pet from command line/prompt' you might find interesting information.

Good luck

Thanks Béèm for your idea.
I think the command is 'petget'

Code: Select all

# absolute path, ex: petget /root/xbubble-0.2.4.pet
# petget script will simply install it.
.
But I can't get help
petget -help
gave me : "/usr/sbin/petget : erreur d'entrée/sortie"
And the command didn't work for install xorg_xorg_dri-7.3-1.pet :(
Because I can't open a file ".pet", I am searching for the package xorg_xorg-7.3-1 in "tar.gz" to open it and search if I can use it ?

Thanks for your help.

Thank for you helping me.
beacause there was an X server problem...could have been an blocking it from starting up or a bug in Toutou. Dri is not needed..the video driver was loading correctly. This is why xvesa did not work either.
Glad you found your own answer :)
