Hi ttuuxxx, Looking good for X7. Here's another small thing. It's possible to install tar.gz's to pup, but there's no obvious way to do it. The easiest is to add a rox menu symlink (just like gtkhash) to petget in /usr/sbin. In my pic I've changed the name to install & added an icon. What do you think.

Hi I'll give it a shot and see what happens:)
I also made right click menu items for cd/iso files, Now you can burn or erase directly like image below :)

ttuuxxx,

You're such a busy guy I hope what I'm about to ask of you
won't be a difficult or time consuming possibility:

Would it be possible to also produce a version of 214X7
which has the SeaMonkey browser? Perhaps it could be
214X7-S versus 214X7-F (Firefox)?

On my older system SeaMonkey is much snappier than
Firefox and I've really grown accustomed to it. For some
reason when I use Firefox certain websites grind to a
very sluggish near halt.

Believe me, we all appreciate your common sense genius
in the way you innovate and 'make better' the things we
truly like about Puppy!

I've often wondered how certain posts come in as 'doubles.'

Now I have experienced it!

I have the tar.gz working :) also to keep the icons that are set, the /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/globicons file had to be copied, thats where it stores the info about the images :)

Hi Hugh why not follow these simple steps :)
delete /lib/firefox
delete /root/.mozilla/firefox
delete /usr/share/applications/FireFox.desktop
install http://www.ttuuxxx.gposil.com/2.14X/int ... 1.1.16.pet
refresh menus and you should be good to go, a lot easier than uploading 2 iso's with every release, maybe the final I might make 2 versions, but then people will want updates and every release will be 2 versions, hmmm anyways its simple to install Seamonkey the way I laid out the installs for this release

Here's the latest epdfview/poppler, I compiled it today, its 789kb compressed, so you guys figure it out if it should be in or out? When you install it just refresh menus, also I made it default pdf image viewer in the package. So just click a pdf and it should open.

Brilliant thinking ttuuxxx, straightforward tasks made simple.
Here's another little mod I like, posted by pizzasgood ages ago somwhere on this forum. Open /root/.Xdefaults & below the line 'Rxvt*saveLines: 1000' add,

Rxvt*scrollColor: #81A0CF
Rxvt*scrollBar_right: true

it will give a coloured right hand scroll bar to rxvt.

I like the index feature on epdfview. Are the scroll & select text buttons on the toolbar dead. As in pup 4 they don't do anything.

synth's SeaMonkey 2.0 (Jul 2, 2009) + Flash 10 http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=43950 works really well in 214X :).

Really nice! 8)

Select text works, even though it doesn't seem to :). Select some text and paste into another window by using the middle mouse button.

Features I do miss in epdfview, though, are the possibility to scroll the text with the mouse scrollwheel and to scroll pages  .

MHHP, thanks for explaining 'select text' button & yes the mouse scroll wheel only works when the mouse arrow is placed over a scroll bar as in other apps. Works in pup 4 so a bit more work for ttuuxxx perhaps. I suppose the scroll button simply means you can click & drag the page around the screen.

HI Guys

So I haven't had one response if epdfview should be in or out? LOL lots of talk about it, Just remember it adds 789kb of weight to the iso, probably closer to 600kb, also the test select works fine if your viewing actual text, not sure what it does with images like a scanned book, the text is could actually be a image and not actual text characters.
To use the text selection feature it actually disables the mouse scrolling with the middle button but the regular mouse scroll still works on the scrollbars. to use the text select just select the following
in the menu select edit/select text
then hold your left mouse button down and drag it up on some actual text you want copied, that should highlite it black, then once your finished release the mouse button and open abiword and select a line and now press the middle mouse scroll button and it should paste.

Anyways Guys is it in or is it out. I'm happy either way on this issue, I added the scrollbars on the right side also the coloured scrollbars, I also figured that out in 4.2 series and a few other tricks I forget now,lol

Anything else should be added or removed guys ?

Woohooooo we have 1 vote for a software inclusion, can we have a second? going once,, going twice,,, Its includedddddd, lol

Ok on a more serious note, I've found a replacement for inkscapelite, the program is called sodipod, its a svg editor like inkscapelite with more options, quicker opening svg files, more tools and its 1kb larger than the inkscapelite package in the 4 series repo.
any testers??

I'll go with the flow or is that a trickle, for epdfview as for inkscapelite v sodipodi whichever you thinks best.

I just compiled alsa but the server uploaded fine but when I try to check the site, the server isn't responding, anyways when it works itself out, the link should then work
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14series/alsa/

ps I didn't compile the python alsa because we don't use python and the alsa-tools because it wanted another library we don't use.

Played around a bit with sodipodi and Inkscapelite; they seem to be two sides of the same coin, i.e. more or less equivalent. The main difference being that inkscapelite is run from menus and sodipodi from "menu-icons", with the non-iconised options being accessible through right-click menus. :?.

Cannot really decide (perhaps, Inkscapelite is a wee bit more consistent with menus, and only a small choice of options available through on-screen icons), I'd say it's your call, ttuuxxx! :)

AbiWord

#899 Post by MinHundHettePerro »

AbiWord: Spellchecking, language-files :?: .

In Puppy 2.16 up til 4.12, I regarded (perhaps a bit pre-judicial on my side  ) AbiWord as just a replacement for MS-Wordpad, didn't really try it out until 4.2, in which AbiWord definitely disappointed me :( .

Now, in 214X, I've seen that AbiWord runs the MS-word-templates, required for writing manuscripts to be submitted to certain scientific journals, perfectly. :)

Therefore, the question arises, how, and where (and is it possible to), do I install language-pack en_GB (possibly also sv_SE, not as crucial, though, as it is my native tongue :) ). :?:

Ok I made up a English British language pack, which is the GB you wanted, basically install it then in tools/set language
select English (uk) and tick make default for document, then click close
Whats sv_SE is that Swedish? if so I could make you a pack for that also.
