hey ttuuxxx, I like the geany version in 214 V6, do you have a pet for it for using on my full 4.1 install, it has that cool option when you type html tag it auto-closes it :D

Yes I think thats this one, I included the root/.config and /root/.geany files also, you might need a few libs from 214 v6 also if your going to use it on 4 series, due to the fact that 214 has a newer and more complete backend, like gio,etc than 4 series has. I would just copy the libs directory to your hard drive, and use the libs needed then once your finished delete the folder.

abiword pet

#843 Post by Minnesota »

Just tried abiword on 416. Wiped out the menu and desktop options... so ran from terminal (even after restarting x)

All seems to work fine, fonts work, tables create, PRINTS!

Hitting buttons as do for testing..... selected Presentation from one of the menu's.....and complete abort! Everything went poof!

Also... why all the items on the Tools menu... why would you want to run other programs from within abiword?

:(

Hi ttuuxxx, some minor suggestions.

How about a mime icon for iso images. Optical48.png from pup 4.2 is nice.
For those who want to try.
Place a suitable icon in /usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/ROX/MIME & rename it mime-application:x-cd-image.png then restart X.

Minixcal-1.1.1(pup 4) nicer & linked to osmo instead of old one linked to ical

Youv'e allready mentioned updating xine libs

Mut cd tray 'close' button colour fix needed

Abiword updates don't interest me but others might find them important.

There hasn't been much reviews on the new abiword package I posted, hmmm does the general public not want an update of abiword? Makes my job easier 8) also feel free to post any views, oh ya in V5 we had the new mut and pmount , does it list all your drives and in order? I can't do anything about overlapping text, that kind of code is beyond my skill, if anyone can fix it, I'm all ears.
ttuuxxx
Hello!
MUT overlapping text issue:
Before and after pics attached 8).

I only seem to have one drive which has a named partition (NO NAME :) ), so I'd like to test the overlapping issue on a drive with several named partitions to see if my changes to mut.tcl solves the prob, before I submit the changed code. BUT, how do I name partitions, what's the equivalent of DOS's label command? :oops: :?

Danger Will Format Your Hard-drive, Or so I've been just told :)

Looks like Gparted and follow these steps
#

If the partition is mounted (has a key icon next to it), right-click on the partition and select Unmount.
#

With the key icon gone, right-click on the partition and select Label.
#

Enter the new partition name and press Ok.
#

The label change is now pending, but has not been completed. Press the Apply button near the top of the window. After confirming, it should say "All operations successfully completed". The drive now has a new label.

Will Not!! Format Your Hard-drive, Or so I've been just told :)

Or with a command line I guess you can do it this way for ex2
e2label <device> <label> <--- explain
e2label /dev/sdb1 puppy214X <--actual code

and if its ext3
e3label <device> <label> <--- explain
e3label /dev/sdb1 puppy214X <--actual code
and if its ntfs

ntfslabel <device> <label> <--- explain
ntfslabel /dev/sdb1 MS-Sucks <--actual code

Danger Will Robinson!

ha ha, - MHHP

labelling your drive that way will wipe the content, as most drives are merely labelled as 'msdos type' by gparted

This is not the same as labelling as used in windoze, which is a simple right click NAMING process

perhaps its accessible by right click/properties?

Aitch :)

Will both methods format the hard drive or just the Gparted one??

:shock: :shock: :shock:

:) No worries, I knew this, that's why I asked for some other means to label partitions. I'll try ttuuxxx's e2label-thingy on an empty partition, otherwise I'll make several new partitions, naming them as they are made.

ttuuxxx, using the label command does not format any partition.
I use e2label also for ext3 partitions without problems, although It has a 16 characters limit for labels.

MUT

#854 Post by MinHundHettePerro »

Greetings!

To have MUT display as cleanly as in the attached pic, edit /usr/lib/mut/mut.tcl
Old:
1432 .boxc create text [expr "$xpos"] [expr "$ypos +4"] -anchor nw -text "$vol." -fill White -font {DejaVuSans -10 }
1433 .boxc create text [expr "$xpos-8"] [expr "$ypos -3"] -anchor nw -text $tex -fill #dfdfdf -font {DejaVuSans -10 }
1478 incr ypos 19
New:
1432 .boxc create text [expr "$xpos"] [expr "$ypos +10"] -anchor nw -text "$vol." -fill Black -font {DejaVuSans -10 }
1433 .boxc create text [expr "$xpos-8"] [expr "$ypos -1"] -anchor nw -text $tex -fill White -font {DejaVuSans -10 }
1478 incr ypos 25
e2label worked nicely :), so now I wonder how to label my FAT partitions, there is an e2label and a ntfslabel, but no (v)fat(32)label :? ?

Thanks for geany pet ttuuxxx but itt didn't work even after copying libgio from 214 which petget reported as dependent, so I took source and compiled for my system, runs ok now ;) BTW, is there way in preferences to hide messages window from bottom, I found for sidebar, but can't find for that one...

Ok install this package that I ripped off of Ubuntu and try the code above :)
I'm not in 2.14X right now so I couldn't compile it, so this is the next best way, Should install without any missing deps.

Dave,
the purpose pf keeping all puppy files in a folder is to keep other puppies series two from colliding on root, or simply to keep things neat away from root as much as possible.

Yes, I do have other p2 series on same partition, like p213, puppeez and cupup [217], teenpup [214], expand [215] and lhp [215]. The last three are with all files in their own folders, using precisely the p214R boot params to boot them from there.

Incidentally, if you use two puppies with same number but differently named in the root of the same partition, say pup_215.sfs [p215ce] and lhp_215sfs, then booting one will automatically mount the other. It will also make available most applications from the other, ie those that do not collide with files of the same name in the two puppies. This may or may not be desirable.

Say you have a slim 'p214 fatfree' version named pup_214.sfs, and teenpup2008 named teen_214.sfs in the root of the same partition. They can coexist because they are differently named. Booting p214ff is fast, and once up it mounts teenpup and integrates most of its applications. In this way you could have several p214 flavours booting all from one basic slim p214, with a separate small save file for each flavour. But some applications may not work properly in this way, and I mainly use it for testing purposes [and when I feel like playing with older puppies].

Of course, this is the same as re-mastering a puplet and splitting it into the base p_xxx.sfs and all applications in an additional .sfs file. With a big distro like teenpup it's not so simple [a lot of dependencies etc] and takes time. Doing it as above you simply use the files that are already available.

Hi ttuuxxx you posted early a solution for Xorg problems, adding this to xorg.conf:

Code: Select all

Section "Module"
        Load    "dbe"
        Load    "extmod"
EndSection
This code solve the SHADE error, but the Module section was moved by Dougal to xorgwizard as you pointed in that comment.

Then I had a some time this morning and started to review Xorgwizard code, seems that Dougal added a Kirk section code where it checks for Synapctis devices and then add the module section, but actually never add the module section into xorg.conf file in other code place from xorgwizard and I don´t have a Sinaptics devices...

Well, I added this section into Xorgwizard 2.14x4 and now I don´t have any Xorg problems:

Code: Select all

#Clarf SHARP fix
NEW_MODULE="
Section \"Module\"
            Load \"extmod\"
EndSection
"
echo "$NEW_MODULE" >> /etc/X11/xorg.conf
This code just add the missed section to xorg.conf each time xorgwizard runs, I made some test and it works fine.

If you want to review kirks code (sure MinHundHettePerro want to ckeck it too) it´s in lines 925 to 1020 from /usr/sbin/xorgwizard, I added the new code after this lines.

Greetings,
