Dick Smith Electronics - XH9947 USB WLAN adaptor
I have a Dick Smith Electronics cheapie USB WLAN adaptor - its reported as
vendor 0x148f
productid 0x2573
a google shows it to be a Ralink RT73 chip.
I am using puppy 4.2.1
The USB WLAN dongle is identified as a Ralink 54M.USB - all good so far
using the new wizard I have the device recognised and the rt73usb loaded.
Scanning networks finds my access-point no problem - which is only using WEP - I read about WPA problems with this chipset - so trying to side step.... However, after going through the steps and entering the WEP key (which works with the other Intel 4965AG wireless adaptor inside the notebook (NEC Versa P9110) after loading the firmware off the Intel wireless web-site to /lib/firmware) "Unable to connect to wireless nework"
Appreciate any thoughts ... (Tempestuous ... I am yet to try your solution to my web-cam crisis and will report back in that thread)
I also tried a D-Link DWA-140 USB WLAN card - this too is a Ralink RT73 model and has a similar issue.
