Snes9x-GTK 1.51-74 (pet no longer being updated)

#1 Post by Ale »

This is the latest version of Snes9x-GTK. This particular port has the GUI built right in. Other than that it is pretty much the same as the normal Snes9x. The reason why I compiled and packaged this program was because unlike ZSNES, I can play online. Net play was tested with a friend via Hamachi. We only played some Street Fighter for a few matches though.

This package is compiled without portaudio and opengl support. It also lacks the icons for the preference dialog. I don't know where the Gnome icons are kept in Puppy so I couldn't adjust the code to pick them up.

This pet has been tested on Puppies 4.21 and 4.12. I am not sure it would work on any others as I've not tried them. The only requirement is SDL 1.2 which can be found in the Puppy Repository.

Edit:
The .pet has been updated to the latest version. Just a few bugfixes according to the author. The source can be found here as well as troubleshooting information. If anyone wants to compile the opengl version be my guest.

I am using a freeware game for my testing now. It is attached below. N-Warp Daisakusen. It supports up to 8 players. On my keyboard I could get 4 people working, but I'm not sure that 8 would work with netplay despite testing locally. I think we need one server and 7 clients.

The game itself is a simple beat-em up and is quite fun.

@Wow
Thanks. I'll add a picture of a game running when I finish compiling v74 which was updated a day after I made the pet apparently.

@greg
I'm glad you like it.

If anyone is using 2.14X I also compiled the same version and the same way, His version wouldn't work on 2.14X but thats ok :) Also If you download the sdl from the repo, that includes all compiler deps, If your just playing a game and not actually going to compile sdl games etc, then use this version below, its 1/10 the size and its the same one from the repo, I just removed the extras to compile with.

Thanks both of you for these PET files... I'm using it (ttuuxxx version) in my new puplet 'Puppy Arcade' and just want to say thanks...

For all those video game emulation fans, Puppy Arcade may be what you're looking for.. Or something close...

Puppy Arcade can be found here:
