Yes coolpup and Prescott compiling technique. But Barry has his own Compiling technique he would like us to use also, which is
http://www.puppylinux.com/blog/?viewDetailed=00703
"The requirements are that you must compile it in Upup (Jaunty Puppy). It is done in the usual way, for example:
Howto create a PET package
# ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --build=i486-pc-linux-gnu
# make
# new2dir make install
The 'new2dir' utility creates a directory of the installed packages, though do note it isn't perfect and needs to be manually checked. Some packages do not work at all well with 'new2dir'.
We then have 'dir2pet' which will convert a directory into a PET package, for example:
# dir2pet abiword-1.2.3 "

I still think we should be compiling as i386 and not i486 due to the fact every puppy release on distrowatch says that puppy is i386 and also that Upup is based on i386 etc. plus with --enable-shared --enable-strip usually helps unless your building a static library.

I came across this Ubuntu/Debian package search program, It looks really good, I'm not using upup/dpup right now so I can't get it going, but I reduced the size of the package and made a pet, you'll probably need apt-cache installed, but really it looks real good.

Hmmmm... ok but BK is saying i486. Ah well.
Any way, here is Osmo and nls files for upup, yes we know who from!
http://www.puppylinux.asia/members/coolpup/osmo-0.2.6-i486-uj.pet
http://www.puppylinux.asia/members/coolpup/osmo_NLS-0.2.6-i486-uj.pet
Here is gftp and nls
http://www.puppylinux.asia/members/coolpup/gftp-2.0.19-i486-uj.pet
http://www.puppylinux.asia/members/coolpup/gftp_NLS-2.0.19-i486-uj.pet
usr=puppy
pswd=linux
Cheers.
NB. If you are having problems with the package manager in upup-476 try this:
1. install dotpet
2. uninstall dotpet using P.P.M.
3. Restart JWM

Hi micko
I made up the package for Gftp on puppy 4.2 and well durring that build I figured out a few things about Gftp which wan't included in the version you posted.
1- You can save over 100kb in icons alone by using system links and compressing the images
2- Gftp has a nice bookmark section, so I added the puppylinux linux @ ibiblio in the bookmars.
3- Gftp has 2 ftp clients, one is command line and one is gui, so theres no need for the command line version due to the gftp-gui works indenpendant of the cli version.
So you link icons, add to bookmarks and remove the cli and you'll save over 100kb compressed
here's a repack of it done the 4.2 way

Thanks for the effort you put into making this popular set of games available in a small package
I downloaded and installed without any problems yesterday and my wife discovered a few more features available than in the ubuntu build, more options in the view feature, different skins etc
Thanks again for the time and effort

I posted this elsewhere. I am posting it here also per chance it will get attention of the likes of ttuuxxx.
Problem description:
Using either the openoffice 3.1 sfs pack at
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=2012614851&t=42094
or a downloaded and extracted one from openoffice.org, x freezes upon clicking soffice, swriter, etc in jauntypup 476. This makes the computer unusable unless one forces a manual reboot.
I know this has been reported already but I haven't come across any fix yet. I hope someone with the right knowledge will tackle this.
Cheers.

The problem your having is that, The package isn't made for Upup, Its made for either 3 or 4 series, they have a different backend,
really you need a Ubuntu release of open office and it should work fine, I would download it from http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=linuxinteldeb&lang=en-US&version=3.1.0
then try to install it, after you removed the first version

Guys, thanks for the contributions for Upup.
As everyone knows, WhoDo has retired from Package Coordinator role, so I will test these packages soon and get them uploaded to ibiblio.org.
They will be in the pet_packages-5 directory, and the Puppy Package Manager will list them in the 'puppy-5' repo. ...this will be for the next alpha, um, what are we up to, alpha10 (perhaps I should stop numbering the alphas like that, use the version number instead, such as "479alpha").

Office.sfs for Upup |
|
You need to :
download the Oldersfs.pet [http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=42722&start=60] and you need enough space on your system to drop the old sfs file on the Drop-older-sfs file which will be in root. This will put a new folder in root containg the files.
Then you can open a terminal and type dir2sfs "name of the folder". This will create a sfs which will be compatible with upup476.
I've also done this by opening the older sfs in a Puppy 4 system and copying the contents to a folder. Then I would reboot into Upup476 and use the dir2sfs command as above.[/url]

Solution to the gColor problem above |
|
Simply create a link to rgb.txt found in /usr/share/X11 to /usr/lib/X11 and gcolor2 will find the saved colors.
