Why does Puppy use ext2 instead of ext3 filesystem?

Why would ext2 be the default when clearly ext3 which is journaled is obviously the safer route?

Good question.

Are you referring to the pup001 file? -- the original reason for not using ext3 was I understood it to be less space-efficient.

Regading the ramdisk. As this is also the "initrd", that is, the initial ramdisk, I think that has to be ext2.
...that limitation will change soon though, maybe, when puppy2 comes along.

oh ic...well ext3 'may' take more space I honestly dont know but its much safer for storage due to journaling..but anyway if the ramdisk thing was main reason the sure thats understandable...i can always 'make' ext2>ext3 ...i'd rather use reiserfs though..could I EDIT the installer file and change 'ext2' creation to reiserfs maybe ?
