Laptop fan stop functioning when running Puppy

#1 Post by berserker_z »

Hi fellow puppies

Found this problem only with my laptop. Looked thru the resources posted in the forum but couldn't find a reason to it. When running puppies on my laptop, my CPU fan did not function, but my desktop PC's CPU fan works fine. I am using a HP Compaq nc6230 (centrino 1.73 hz, 1 GB hz). Anyone with similar issue like mine?

I really like to have puppy on my laptop, they are cool. But when it comes to CPU, they are really getting it hot. This is worrying. Tried all version of puppies from 1.0.4 onwards and even try Damn Small Linux, but all of them failed to get the CPU fan working. This isn't healhy for my laptop, but I don't really want to give up on puppy yet. Anyone solved a similar problem before??

The power management function might not be working under Puppy, it does not function on all notebooks. Check out this thread to find out more.
