Actually if you compare the JQ8flat icons+mimes icons to the new icons+mimes icons theme I made up its actually 12kb smaller, hows that :)
below is the results when I put the both themes in 2 folders. Plus the new theme has 5 extra mimes over the flat one.

I read on Barry's blog that he had issues with MP the little editor, So I compiled the latest version 2 ways and made 1 pet out of including NLS, DOC's etc as full as I could make it. lol
So if you had issues with mp install this version and you'll have the curses and GTK-GUI version, which I like over the Curses version.
to get the GUI on the curses version use "CTRL+A"

Here's the other version he wanted, Its the full Curses version.

mp-3.3.18b-curses-i486|mp|3.3.18b-curses-i486||Document||pet_packages-5|abiword-1.2.3-1.pet|+aiksaurus,+gtk2|Console Editor|ubuntu|jaunty|5|
ttuuxxx

added the gtk version of this one and if you wanted the actual icon here it is, I compressed with Gimp, its 1/2 the size of the 16x16 default in puppy and its 32x32 lol

Any results/views from the ROX 2.8 or ROX 2.9 packlages? It was my first time tackling the mighty ROX. also is any of the mp packages faulty, These packages might go to the repro so they need testing, I can't be everywhere, lol ,
tuuxxx yells' "ummmmm Ecomoney where are you???" well he did say he'll be the chief tester, lol, anything goes wrong, as Dr.Phil says, "when you point a finger at someone, you have 3 of them point back at yourself. lol" Man I hate it when my wife puts Dr. Phil on, I always have to hear about it after.

Gnome Mplayer 4.2mb pet

#28 Post by ttuuxxx »

Hi guys well I came across this Frontend for mplayer, so I compiled the latest svn of mplayer with internal ffmpeg and well it ran great, but had a documented warning, which shouldn't be there, so I looked around for a new frontend and came across this one, I compiled it and well its great :)
Fullscreen on JWM and its a full fullscreen, taskbar gone etc.
you can drag mp3's,divx,avi, real media to the main interface and it plays, or open the menu and click dvd,cd,file etc and it plays, its also has a playlist editor and reads/makes m3u play list:)
I've played dvd's,xvid, avi, divx,cd music, and real media video real nice and smooth. So far I haven't any complaints about the playback features, please test this package.

@I really like the upgraded Rox, the new icons and background. Great work!

Just tried it on the latest uPup built on Woof Alpha 7. The install instructions are slightly different. In options ->type->theme you should pick hicolor instead of Rox - otherwise Rox still uses the flat icon set. Also I couldn't find where the flat icons live so I didn't bother to delete them. Still works OK though.

I like this blue desktop look - would make a fine basis for say a netbook version of dPup. I wonder also how feasible it would be to install the Ubuntu Remix netbook-launcher desktop into uPup or Dpup. I find that it is not all that stable in Ubuntu though.

Ttuxxx, if you get a minute, could you have a look at this and see if you think you could build a nice small Puppy look-alike of this idea? I reckon you would make a better job of it than Ubuntu Remix did.

Blof  - tried a build of dPup today and got stopped by a showstopper bug while trying to save a pup_save file but - dPup still looks fast compared to the other Woof distro types. Here's hoping the beta version of Woof will have this fixed.

Ok when I get some spare time I'll look into the dpup thing, actually I like dpup a lot better than Upup and feel that I'll be switching over soon, Well I'm not getting much support here, and really since I favor the speed of dpup over upup, plus upup's default graphics modules are buggy, when I bootup and use the same default setting xorg settings as I did in 4 series, the screen blinks when I'm doing things, like using gimp, lol when I use gimp I might as well have a hour glass, it take a super amount of cpu resources on upup, compared to 4 series, yes sure its a 4 series gimp package but when I installed it, it didn't complain of any missing deps, and when I used that same package in 4.2, and dpup, it had no issues at all.
Plus I have my ibiblio account working and so I can use that for Dpup. :)

Installed upup_471, frugal and full, to have a look.

Using Gxine to watch Pup-tv Scifi-channel:
Cpu usage is only 40 to 50% that of the 4.xxx Puppies.
Runs cooler and smoother.

Excellent!!

Gnome Games Lite Version 6.3MB pet

#32 Post by ttuuxxx »

Hi guys well I figured why not have some games for the repo, I had a look at the default Gnome Games package in jaunty well it was big, I had it around 21MB pet plus it still needed Python and Python gtk, to be added, well lets just say for the average puppy user this is a bit much for like 17 games, so I figured out whats what with the package and removed 3 games and knocked it down to 6.3MB pet all included, doesn't need Python and others deps that way.

removed

-gnome-gnibbles
-gnome-sudoku
-gnome-glchess

well enjoy, maybe a little feedback??
ttuuxxx

PS it comes with tons of card games :) if you look at the fullscreen.jpg below you'll see a small part of the actual amount :), must be around 100 different card games in the menu.

Latest Gimp 2.6.6

#33 Post by ttuuxxx »

Hi Guys I figured whats a repo without the latest Gimp :) So here it is , most people will only need the first file below, the other 3 are for Locales, help documents, and compiling files. This package is way smaller than the Ubuntu one due to it not using Python, and also being broken up like it should be.

@ttuuxxx

Thanks for the gnome games. Nice size too :) .

Had to use fixmenus to see the menu entries under "Fun", but all seems to run OK

How about putting the chess stuff in a different pet?

I know from having tried it, that gnuchess does run OK in uPup Alpha 6 using xboard as the front end for the gnuchess engine.

Hi tronkel,

I trying to stay away from installing python, because once I do, Then I'll have to start over fresh again on my pc, There was a nice flash chess game in the forum, actually I think it looked better, lol it was only like 40kb hmmmm here's a link
http://home.no.net/zigbert/downloaders/ ... -chess.pet
I'm also moved on now, deleted the games sources files, well I kept the game pet :) If you still have the chess game maybe shoot a package together, I'm working on Xsane for gimp and then maybe one more big program before bed.

ttuuxxx,

Thank you for those new Rox themes and your excellent instructions for installing them. They look great.

Also, thank you for the Gnome games and gcalculator .pets. (Also tried these on 4.2.1 and games did not work properly.)

One question, how do you get these to show up in the menu? Usually, just editing the /usr/share/applications *.desktop file to assure that the *.desktop has the right category (or adding a *.desktop file) is sufficient to get them recognized for the menu. However, that doesn't work with upup.

Your contribution's continue to amaze. Looking forward to your Living Water based on upup or dpup.

Thanks,
Jim

Upup has a the new2dir script, and plus it has been updated, once its finished making the script it launches a new application the makes those big long entries you see on my post.
Probably have to "fixmenus" and "restart X server", and if that don't work try "fixmenus" and the exitX and go to the prompt that "xwin jwm"
Hope that helps,
