How to access CDROM and Floppy Drive and some random stuff

#1 Post by Joshm »

Hi,
I just installed Puppy Linux on one of my old P133 laptops. I tried to configure my CD drive using the CD drive wizard, and it says that the CD drive is linked to /DEV/HDC/. I tried clicking on it to access the contents of a mp3 cd and i got a message saying that "ROX-Filer-I don't know how to open '/dev/hdc/'. I tried using the CDROM shortcut in the /dev/ directory but got the same message. Does anyone have a solution to try to access the cd drive? Also, is it possible to access floppy drives with Puppy Linux? I'm thinking of running Puppy Linux from my hard drive instead of it running of RAM, and I'm wondering if it is faster (eg. Open Office takes like 5 minutes to open when I'm running Puppy of RAM) by running it off the hard drive.
Thanks

You must mount drives.

Start - Utilities - MUT

See here, too:

Thanks mate for the quick reply. I can now play movies and stuff, but without sound. Do you know if there is a control panel or something where i can turn on the sound?
